Day 6by MinsoPhotoComment: I think I said this elsewhere, but the monochrome conversion and the toning on this are special. It's probably the superb lighting and the effective capture of the smoke in the air. Whatever it is, this really works. |

IMG_9355_HDRby GilesComment: Gorgeous landscape. I especially like the beautiful green foreground land with winding road. Doesn't get better than that. Here's what I would try to improve for the rest of the image. My eyes see an artifact of a hard line graduated ND filter just below the horizon.... about 40 pixels... stretching from left border to right border. By artifact, I mean it's unnaturally dark in that area, which is what a ND filter would appropriately do to the sky and hopefully not be noticed on the landscape. I may be all wet on that, but I've seen the same problem in some of my landscapes utilizing a hard grad ND. The solution is a soft grad, or a different placement. The other thing is the proportion of land vs. sky. While your image is spectacular and it's hard to argue for a different comp, the horizon line should move off of horizontal middle. Yeah, I know that means some of the sky or land needs to go... and it would sacrifice portions of grand elements of interest one way or the other. But, to leave the horizon line in the middle creates a quandary for the viewer, as to which element is the focus of the scene. It's all great, but I recommend trying to reframe to show less sky and more land to enhance the harmonious look of the image. |

The Ides of March 7:14 AM by hahn23Comment: Originally posted by nam: Just beautiful, Richard. Looking at the color version I can see why you chose to include so much of the scene to the left, but for the black and white, I think I agree with those who want more of the right. My heart aches for this place at this moment in time. |
The composition of this scene was not accidental, nor casually chosen. Including more of the scenery to the right destroys everything which is harmonious in this scene. |

Two Whitesby tnunComment: Good horses with wonderful blankets. It's cropped just slightly too tightly and the eye catch glints are missing, but I like the horses very much. |

Greenby KelliComment: Very nice clarity and sharpness. Love the "slimey" texture, although I know it doesn't feel like that. Great capture of the eye. |
