this is a wonderful image, very evocative. and thanks for the story too. i only figured out in my late 20s why i was so scared to put the duvet over my head (i'm still not mad on it) the duvet (which my son still uses) was bought by my parents when i was about 5. i remember reading on the plastic bag - keep away from children, danger of suffocation. of course, as a literal minded child, i took that to mean the duvet, not the bag. oops...
