The perfect assignment for my sexy lens. The huge aperture allows for low-light photography and a sexy DOF. The trick is just to take a bunch of pictures so one of them is focused on the dog. This one is not only focused, but the dog is looking particularly expressive. Say goodnight, Gracie! The ISO is 800 but even cropping to a square leaves it sharp and not too noisy.

Channel Mixer to b/w (I'm afraid of the CS3 b/w feature. Is it approved for Basic?). Crop. Black border. Resize. USM.

Oh, this makes me laugh. Even the dog thinks you're nuts. As far as the image goes, I really like the lines of the steps, balusters and railing, and the floor boards and molding in the background.

Oh it's good to see Gracie still moving around! Great perspective. And i love how she has that look on her face that says "and you expect this old body to climb those stairs?" I also like how she's been framed by the stairs and rails.

Framing, perspective, and concept - all killer. You had an 8 from me. Wonderful play on "old ways".

Really nice picture. I really like the competing lines in both color and direction. I also love how the dog seems to match the neutral gray's so evenly. Feels like a 3 tone shot. Cool stuff.

Be not afraid. The CS3 B&W feature is legal for basic when used in normal blending mode. When used in other blending modes, it sorta negates the B&W part in odd ways....

This looks like Gracie. And yes, stairs are old-fashioned - I take 'em all the time despite the bum knee.

I like the photo but I do not think this is the old way we still have stairs today. they are the main way of getting to the second floor in a home.

Very nice angle , just watch getting to close because the front of your stairs got blurry.
