I understand what you were attempting to accomplish but this composition feels slightly rushed. I believe the hands do need to have some point of focus. It goes beyond selective focus. Also, the light in the background is distracting to me. There seems to be a large amount of noise in this photograph. Nice attempt but I feel that it̢۪s not quite there.
