The light on the background is quite beautiful in some ways. But ... to my eye, it is the "focal" point (the point of interest) in this photo; not what you wanted here. Somehow you got to get the light on the subject and use the background as complement (I think, don't know much about still life photography though). Also, out of curiosity, why the partial glasses?

I like the patterns of the flowers/grasses showing off the bird. You must have made this one also from rather far away. There's a fair bit of pixelation in the photo. I like the compo though.

Both pictures look a little like they were made from quite far away. Of the two, I think I like this one better, because you can see more of the bird's face. I like the colour.

04 - Sleeping Dog Island

FWIW,

(1) I listed the wrong lens for this one. Made with the Sigma macro 150mm F/2.8

(2) As to the "disconnected" bokeh, in case anyone was wondering, it's one picture, the bokeh is not added or anything like that. To me it's not disconnected. The island, the sleeping dog, is dreaming, and the bokeh is his dreams :) But, I can understand if someone sees it as disconnected.

LOL! The killing mandarins! Ninja mandarins! I like the vibrant orange colour, and the greens, it's a mysterious lighting, almost noir in character with the shadows.
