this evokes so many things for me, the way the past gets further away, clouded in dust and hidden behind reflections, and how our own eyes get worse at seeing just as our memories get harder to see. the past becomes exotic even to us who lived it, hiding coyly behind its fan

art can be a bit sentimental at times, dwelling in a glimmer when there's work to be done. sometimes art dares to share space with that other, older, force called love. It can easily go wrong, but such art is fearless. and, besides, failing in the name of love is the best way to fail.

two things I like about this. the painterly processing, which might just be a filter but it works particularly well for his hand. the second is the close crop which still has all the important details: the hand on the reins, the rope, horse's mane
