Fallenby RKTComment: Kind of a standard set-up and composition (and title), but dang this is a really good example of it, perfectly captured and processed. The length of sand between bird and sea adds a disorienting poignancy, as does the narrowness of the band of sky. It's a very very sad photograph. |

Buckskins by vtruanComment: Nice use of cropping to both force our attention on the bird and also be disoriented by the bird. For a moment, it seems as if the bird is still flying in this new chaos. |

Hollywoodby LevTComment: Notice how Brad is looking directly at your camera while she is looking at the other camera. This mismatch of gazes makes all the difference. In his picture, both of them will be looking into the camera. The effect will be lost. |

Hollywoodby LevTComment: yes, it does endear me to the subject. but it does more than that. It's funny how a picture of a person taking a picture can be so much more than the picture being taken... just that one level of separation changes it completely. This photo says so much about how people relate to celebrity. How they love it and mock it at the same time, how it doesn't quite fit their lives.
I also enjoyed the few seconds it took me to make sense of this picture. In case you haven't noticed, I really really like this! |
