In my viewby pineappleComment: Boy, you achieve the most beautiful tonal ranges... crisp demarcations and great balance. Hey where's the Dylan song that goes with this one? |

Be Preparedby bmartuchComment: Pretty! (but uh, manly too ;-) I like its tonal balance and the embossing on the flask. Low key challenges are a pita, such dissension about what the term really means. Hey, if this shot were in a regular challenge, you'd probably get 'too dark!' comments. Go figger. Pfft. Anyway, be happy, it's a lovely picture to add to your collection. |

Iceburg...Dead Ahead!by KelliComment: Ack, I'm sorry I didn't comment on this during the challenge. I liked it! I gave it a 7. I don't understand how it wound up with a 5.28. The subject is unmistakeable and so fitting and the shot has that gorgeous depth and sky. And it makes me feel like going out to the Delaware to see what's going on :) P.S. I see the shade was criticized. I think it's a natural-looking photo, which has merit. Sometimes I use the flash (as fill) or a flashlight to paint in shady cases like this. Doesn't always work out. |

At the freezing pointby quiet_observationComment: Oh cool! I'm glad this is you! I wish I'd had something more intelligent to say in my comment. This is just so much to my taste, the reflections, the texture, the complexity. Love the blue hues too. Well seen and shot! |

solitudeby griz210Comment: I like the brightness and shadows on the tree! Enjoyed the tilt. The landscape in the background has a neat almost-monotone olive hue, which serves to deaccentuate it and keep my attention on the tree and sky. |

Arboreal serenadeby pineappleComment: I thought this might be Central Park. Great tree definition. My eye is drawn to their contrasts because Ralph is almost a silhouette. Amazing that you got such a lovely, meaningful b/w with such a simple conversion. I see this extreme depth of focus and from-the-hip perspective (is it?) in several of your photos. It's very effective at conveying a sort of tunnel of loneliness and yearning. I'm initially drawn to the moody foreground subject, but these images also make me want to know what is way back there, beyond my reach. |
