whakatopaby rinacComment: Nice title. To be honest it took me a while to find the meaning via google. I wonder if voters that didn't realise it was a maori word felt confused by the title?
I'm not voting on this but I do like the way the seagull and it's reflection focus my attention on the sea/horizon. The clouds feel a bit blown out for my liking. |

Stoplight Foamby levyj413Comment: Hi from the Critique Club.
Fit: They are indeed bubbles. No DNMC in this shot.
Composition: The composition is good. You've managed to get the image split into 3 areas with the middle running on a nice diagonal.
Technical: Given the subject you have done a good job. One could be picky about the fuzziness of some of the bubble edges or the distracting reflections in some of the bubbles but that would be nitpicking. There are some nice reflections and no areas are blown out. The lighting is fairly even.
Feel: The title confuses me a bit, how does it relate to the image exactly? While this is a good shot is doesnt "do much" for me. The 5.9 score reflects this I think.
PM if you have any queries. |

Circumference Diameter Relationshipby raishComment: I wonder why you chose to use the CD and ruler when you have that great stone "pi symbol" in the background? To be honest the CD and ruler take away from the image rather than add to it. Have a go at getting low and shooting the stone sculpture with those flowers out of focus in the foreground - just an idea |

Utensilby darnokComment: Hi from the Critique Club.
Fit: A fork is used to prepare food so it fits ok.
Composition: Good composition for such an extreme macro. You have got the fork placed so that we have a nice leading curve from bottom left up to top right.
Technical: The lighting and DOF is good. If anything the DOF is a bit too shallow given there is nothing in the background to isolate the fork from.
Feel: Here is where the image may have lost a few points. It's a nice macro that meets challenge but it lacks an emotional feel. I know that's hard from a fork but the viewers need to be able to connect with the image. If you look at the high raters in your portfolio you can see there is something in them that viewers can relate to.

Moon cactusby br1barComment: Hi from the Critique Club.
Fit: Yep, it is a landscape
Composition: Why the angle? It just makes us want to tilt our head to look at the image. Normal boring flat horizons are best. Neither the moon nor the plants seem to be the main focus yet the title implies they should be. The lighting on the foreground pulls our eye there.
Technical: Interesting lighting. A bit bright though.
Feel: Like most voters I dont quite know what to make of this.
Good luck in future challenge.

Fleeting Beauty by rinacComment: Great shot. This is one of my top 6 in the challenge. Great colours. Nice POV on the shots. This would be a 10 but the middle shot somehow doesn't feel quite right with the two side images so I'm giving it a 9. Maybe it's the fact we see some background? Maybe it's because it isn't a macro like the other two?
If this doesn't ribbon then it will be top 10 for sure. |

Oh...to Soar! by DrAchooComment: One of my favourites of the challenge. My only bugbear (pun intended) is that the lighting on the plant changes so much between shots. |

Bouquetby SJCarterComment: Nice, I just wish the right hand "box" included her hand so the images all felt linked together better, 6 |
