It's a shame his lines are broken by the fence; this would be a great deal more striking as a full silhouette. The truck behind her is a wee bit distracting as well. Still, a nice image, and a good idea. 6.

If I could see the whole shapes, they'd catch my eye better. :) Still, a lovely, lovely photo. The symmetry and color are very good -- although -- is the focus off a titch? Just as photo I think I'd give this an 8 -- considering that the shapes are incomplete I'll rate it at 7. I may come back and change my mind later. :)

Dog Day Afternoon

What stands out to me here is the sun and its reflective trail in the water; the dog is almost an afterthought to my eye, yet I assume that's the shape you're wanting me to notice. As an ordinary image I love this; the composition is great, the scene is pretty; the silhouette adds interest. As an image where the shape of the subject draws my attention, it lacks a little bit. 7.

Apple, Pear

Apple, Pear

Comment:
Are those gilded or did this get very heavily color-edited?

The dent at the top of the apple, right at the focal point (imo), is really distracting in this. I like the composition, though, and the narrow depth of field.

The cross almost blends in to the background. Could you have used a narrower depth of field to set it off by itself a bit more? Or perhaps a different angle -- is that the edge of a circular dark area I see up in the left? The cross against something like that would have been truly striking.

I like the idea and the tones here. The composition, other than the bit of circle on the left which couldn't be helped at that angle, is pleasing.

Droplets!

Comment:
Unfortunately the droplets don't really catch my eye, especially as regards their shape(s), which seem really random. Also, there are water spots on the glass that are distracting especially in the green areas. This is a good idea for a shot -- one that's pretty popular but I don't fault you for that. The colors are vivid and the patterns in the drops are quite visually interesting.

This is clever, not your run-of-the-mill circles shot. (Is there a time zone that's fifteen minutes off from the rest? I know there are some on the half-hour...). Light and colors are good here -- I like the muted gray, black, and white with the metal watches.

Shape of my Heart

Comment:
Looks like it was fun to shoot. :) I think I might like a tighter crop -- maybe just the person with the heart and the Christmas tree? -- a bit better. There's a lot of extraneous information in the shot that's a bit distracting. A well-made, nicely lit photo though.

I was in a hurry entering this -- it was after the site had gone down and I didn't know how long they'd leave the challenge open to entries -- so I didn't note how I made the image. It's simple, really. Filters for the NIkon Coolpix are 77mm and attach to a lens hood which encloses the lens as it zooms in or out. This is a wide-angle image of a handful of marbles arranged on the lens hood with the camera on its back on the tripod, and a light-saber battle (yes really) going on above the camera. Eight-second exposure, and voila.
