Greetings from the Critique Club...

This photo meets the challenge with the heart shape, but I believe it would have scored a lot better if that shape was a larger part of the composition/theme of the photo. This is a technique that I particularly enjoy and you have done it well here. I can't really offer you much suggestion for improvement other than making the theme/subject of the photo more dominant in the frame...

Excellent work :)

Neat photo. Had the blurred woman on the right been cropped out, I would have scored this higher.

I feel like there's just a little too much going on here. A simpler crop with just the central figure and the tree would be much more effective.

Great capture of the heart, very nice image. I think it would have been a little better if the person on the right was cropped out. Too much motion from her.

I love this photo. I love the decor too! the heart is perfect! Great exposure, The lady on the right is a little distracting however.

great effect, I think if you cropped out the very blurry person on the right it would have worked better

Oh what great fun, not easy to capture either.

This is such a lovely image and well captured.....

Great shot but I would have cropped the others out, hope you score well.

cool

maybe you should have gotten in a dar room and did it to focus more on the heart itself. but nice idea 8

Looks like it was fun to shoot. :) I think I might like a tighter crop -- maybe just the person with the heart and the Christmas tree? -- a bit better. There's a lot of extraneous information in the shot that's a bit distracting. A well-made, nicely lit photo though.

One of my best....Love the motion and human element..not a lot of that in this challenge so you get bonus points :-D

I like how you captured this "heart-shape" made from a person waving a sparkler. It is a good action capture, but it suffers from too much being in the scene - the scene is too cluttered with other things that distracts attention from the main subject. The eye tends to wander the room as the main subject is swallowed up by so many things surrounding her. A tighter crop to speciffically center on the main action would have been better....Or if during the shot you had another person facing the woman making the heart (a mother or a sinificant other) such that the visual idea would be that she is making this heart for them. This shot would also have to be tightly cropped so that focus remains on the main elements of the shot.

How about tcropping off the right hand side person from the picture?
01/04/2006 02:33:19 AM
This photo would have worked well if you had cropped just arond the girl making the heart. White balance is off, but it gives it a good mood IMO. Oh, and you do realize yoy have a ghost in your house, right? ;-)
