Bit too abstract for me, and also a touch small for it to be inspected properly.

Couldn't really work this one out. Had to move the laptop monitor around before I could see anything but black. Not sure that it really works for me.

I like this but felt a bit disappointed when I saw the flowers. I think this just detracts from the abstract nature of the shot. The colours are great and the effect is very appealing to me also, but a bit too much of the flowers, perhaps. not sure.....

This is a very, very appealing photo - I suspect it is so appealing because of the composition. tonal range is very appealing to me, but Bear is certainly the expert there, so I'd listen to him there :)

I'm not usually a fan of sillouhettes, but this is a really interesting shot. Colours are nice and subject is cute. Good crop so that the black foreground is minimal and rule of thirds is still maintained. Very nice.

I love this. colours are great and the leading lines are super. The wonkiness of the bridge is disconcerting, but otherwise really lovely.

This has the potential of being quite a good shot. couple of issues though: the framing of the trees in the foreground where they should have really added to the dynamic of the scene have actually significantly detracted from it because of DOF. Also, a little more of the subject, the train, would have really added to this also. But the sharpness of the train is super, colours/tonal range is great, too. So part are there, just not quite.

I suspect that subject matter may have contributed to the score. Not sure that people would generally consider this abstract and therefore marked down accordingly. However, the actual image is quite good. I agree with Bear on the DOF issues here in this one, as opposed to the last one that I just commented on. Colours are good.

Quite like this shot. I actually like the DOF. Not too shallow to be distracting but enough to be effective. I think a problem might have been in the lighting: I'm familiar iwth the effect that you were going for but I don't think that it eventuated as you had invisioned. However, had I voted, I would have given this a 6, so I think that 4.7 is a bit harsh! Maybe people didn't get the something old thing....not sure.
