This is actually much cooler than if you had been close up - because it gives us a sneaky-pie kind of feeling. The bird clearly has no clue that you are there. Ha! Great colors, too - and all that wild foliage (spoken as someone who lives in dry barrenness).

What a beautiful girl! If I had to chose - in a photographic sense - I would go with the b&w. It's sort of high-key and really sets off her eyes well.
