A Deadly Matchby J-MeComment: This is very outstanding. I just saw it again in this thread.
I can see that I gave it a 7 during voting way back then - seems like ages ago. |

13-may 08. a different take on 'the thinker'by rozComment: Apes regularly pull at my heart strings. I agree with Judy down there - always sad to see them incarcerated.
That aside - this is a wonderful image, Roz - love the isolated subject and the use of overlay. |

A Samurai's Taleby heavyjComment: This is gorgeous! Nobody commented during voting?? I'm puzzled by the score - 53 5's. 22 4's?
Weird - you never know here.
I did't vote on the challenge and am just now looking. |

Can you cut it like fish sticks?by salmiakkiComment: Such an excellent image, Sarah!
HUGE bummer it didn't heave itself over six. But look at the commenters' average vote - pretty awesome. Love the colors in this photo and the processing.
Very well done! |

Three Amigosby pawdrixComment: So weird and so funny! I remember seeing this last year.
Because of this thread
it was brought to my attention again and being a huge cat lover and a lover of thinking out of the box, I'm going to fav it too. :o)

Commutingby IraklisComment: I've been looking at your portfolio and you have an excellent eye.
Regarding the blown out portion of the photo... I feel in general, yes, one should avoid that. However, In this image, which is so real and gritty, it does not detract or take away from the excellence of the portrait.
If you notice, there's a diagonal line from the top right to the bottom left, and the man is in that line. So the eye does not go to the blown out window (unless one doesn't have an eye at all), but instead right to the face.
My point for this long post - some rules are meant to be broken, and some broken rules add to the character and quality of the photo, as in this case. I gave it an 8. |
