I Love Ornaments!!!!
by TCGuru

Comment:
Love the bold red of the ornament that really pops and contrasts well with the white of the tree. Love how one only sees a partial view of the ornament which adds the punch of color to the scene. The other visual interest of the photo comes from the presentation of an interesting shape. The swirly curl of the hook 'hooks' our eyes and has us follow the pleasing shape down to the gold crown of the ornament and then the splash of red.

Bubbles

I can't exactly tell why but the color tones is very appealing and somehow adds to the mood of carefree magic. Nothing is more simple and fun then blowing bubbles:-) I like that we see the girl in the background as she is in the action of blowing the bubbles. She is blurred because the main focus is not really on her but it is the bubbles that are the objects that can and do hold us under a spell. Ah, wait I think I now know why the color tones add to this - it is because they remind me of either watercolor tones and/or those old nostalgic polariod photos that have an aged patina.

Day-8 Christmas Market

Day-8 Christmas Market

Even with no snow on the ground it looks like an interesting place to stroll and window shop:-) Maybe it just needs a change in angle to look more magical. Straight on shots are *generally* not as interesting as those taken from a different angle or point of view. I don't know if your camera has this feature but if it does you can pivot the viewscreen so that you can look at what you are shooting when placing the camera at 'ground level' angled up. A very low angle say that of a child looking up at these stalls would add visual interest - especially if taken at a 45 degree angle that shows the shops stretching out down the isle. The trick would to be to exclude as much of the telephone poles & wires in the process but that could be accomplished by cropping to a 'widescreen' movie feel view:-)

Just a quick glance at the thumbnail, I thought I was looking at some unusual spiked plant with the spikes at the diagonal. The closer look of course shows some unusually colored candy canes. I like the way you composed the shot to lay on the diagonal. It adds visual interest to the composition and it also happens to 'follow' the lines/stripes on the candy canes as well. Colors are bold and pop off the page. My only critique is that the backdrop is not a solid color and has 'things' going on in the backdrop that distract. One suggestion is to get a solid tone background so the white and blue colors of the candy cane really pops off of it (black would work best). The second suggestion is that you have more of the same colored candy canes lying underneath the six you see here so that it adds even MORE lines and pop of color to be visually interesting.

This has such an impressionistic feel that I feel I am looking at a painting rather than a PP photograph! I have tried my hand at impressionistic photo taking like yourself and it is sometimes amazing what a little carefully down camera movement can do. Well done here! Love the splay of colors here. The reds are bold and vibrant! And the colors from the tree stream off into the sky as the 'paintbrush' pushes the color up in long swift strokes.

Wow! Nice close-up shot of the alignment! Mars and Venus are in great clarity as well as the cool details we see on the 'dark' side of the moon.

Textures and colors really make this composition visually interesting. It holds the eyes' attention such that we linger to explore the textural feel of every corner of this image. The splash of red from the two flowers adds bold color to an otherwise starkly contrasted scene.

Wow! Love the clarity of the waterdrops hanging from the plant. The overlay gives this photo some wonderful and interesting textures for the eye to explore. Not only that but the waterdrops on the plants takes on the illusion of being 'streetlamps' that 'light up' the night. This illusion happens because you have a halo of light surrounding your main subjects and around that halo is darkness.

This is a lovely little way to bring positive thoughts and smiles to a tough battle ahead. A photo 'slice of life' that holds on to the idea & hope that both she and the family will be looking back upon with the thoughts "yeah, those were some trying times but with love, support, and family I made it here today". I really like the idea this strong lady is holding onto "Joy" with a smile that lights up her face. I hope that the chemo is a success.

day 1... The long road

I like how you composed and cropped your shot for it take on the appearance of a scene from a widescreen movie. The vanishing point really captures and draws the eye's attention to walk the path that stretches forth. Tones and contrasts are good. I like that you played up the details here. Specifically making sure that the road/pathway extends and touches the left and right corners of the foreground frame in the photo. I makes it look like we are litterally stepping out on to the road that is right there in front of us.
