This is a picture from the Christmas market the city of Joliette set up for the second year. I went, hoping to get good images but unfortunately, without snow on the ground, there was nothing magical or Christmasey to it. Looked like a cheap flea market with garlands of lights!

The temperature was VERY wintery though... -25C!! With the windchill, it was hovering around -36C. Needless to say I only took a few pictures. So that's that!

its a great shot caroline .. love the lights & your border is excellent ..
i think you can damage a camera in those very cold conditions if you come inside to a warmer temp .. something about condensation if i remember correctly .. altho i'm not totally sure .. its not something i EVER have to worry about .. lol ..!!..:)

LOL! Should have cloned some of that snow off the roofs ;) Just kidding. Your light is great and your noise level is too.

I wish there were places like this for me to take the girls. Looks lovely. Great night shot too, btw.

Looks plenty festive to me - and there is snow on the roofs. -25C?? Jeesh.

Oh how festive. I love it when lights aren't all perfect. This is great.

Hmmmm. Since we never have snow at Christmas, this scene looks fine to me. 8P We never have snow on the roof either, so I won't quibble. Nice night/twilight scene that captures the season well.

Oh, geez, I feel so sorry for the people working there! That's WAY past merely cold!!

You have captured that scene well with the lit up stalls not overexposed but still plenty of detail in the surroundings. I like your border. It gives it the snowy, Christmassy look you feel is missing.

Dang, that's cold. I like the backdrop of houses and neighborhood, which of course make it busy (which is my thing) but give it a neat context - these little booths set up just beyond.

Even with no snow on the ground it looks like an interesting place to stroll and window shop:-) Maybe it just needs a change in angle to look more magical. Straight on shots are *generally* not as interesting as those taken from a different angle or point of view. I don't know if your camera has this feature but if it does you can pivot the viewscreen so that you can look at what you are shooting when placing the camera at 'ground level' angled up. A very low angle say that of a child looking up at these stalls would add visual interest - especially if taken at a 45 degree angle that shows the shops stretching out down the isle. The trick would to be to exclude as much of the telephone poles & wires in the process but that could be accomplished by cropping to a 'widescreen' movie feel view:-)
