Center Beautyby PGerstComment: Voted earlier coming back to leave comments now. This is a great macro shot showcasing the center details of this white floral. Love how you show us all the great details from the curls of the outter sprouts to the central core with its pinkish yellow sprouts that in itself looks like tiny flowers. Colors are great and really pop out from the crowning white petals. |

Sunrise Sunburstby glad2badadComment: Voted earlier now coming back to leave some comments. Love the silhouette of the tree against the summer colors of the sky & desert mountains in the backdrop. The setting sun seems *caught* in the branches of the tree. The tree leans forward as it follows the undulating lines of the mountains in the background. As the summer sun sets it casts a warm glow that blankets the region but with it's setting comes a refreshing breeze that offers a welcome respite from the heat. This would make a lovely calendar shot btw:-) |

The Princess Brideby scalvertComment: Voted earlier coming back to leave comments now. What an absolutely spectacular portrait of this young girl! I love the gleam in her eyes (nice catch lights btw) and the happy smile as she turns her face to look up at me. Her happy glow comes off the page and you cannot help but smile back. Her dress radiates in folds out from her body like rays of the sun. Love the soft but brilliant whites of the dress. The skin tones are just absolutely wonderful as is the lighting on your subject. You did a bang up job on this portrait. |

Fight for knowlegeby mb2006Comment: Voted earlier coming back to leave comments now. The lighting on this is wonderful, the colors are excellent, and the scene sets up a story. I like the concentration on this little boy's face as he ever so neatly practices his letters. As much as he is concentrating hard, he also has a look that he would rather be outside and playing for there is a slight frown on his lips. So the fight for knowledge here, to me at least, is the struggle to stay motivated to finish...and *then* get the reward of playtime. He also appears so prime and proper with the vest and bow tie that I get the sense of being transported back to the Old West with Sunday School and wearing your sunday best. I tried to read what the page on the right hand side but I feel you will quite understand that I do not wish to pick up my monitor and turn it upside down to read it. I can see that he is clearly practicing writing letters on the lines (looks like the letter 'p'). |

Winter Sun on the New Amsterdam, New York City 2005by hotpastaComment: Voted earlier coming back now to leave comments. The angle you took this shot at really gives the viewer a sense of smallness. These buildings tower over us/me as I look up to get the full view and spectrum of this building. The building gives the aspect of being very imposing to us tiny humans that stand at it's feet. The widescreen cinema crop just helps add to this feeling. I also want to add that the B&W tones are absolutely fabulous! |

"Kissed by the wind"by magueroComment: Voted earlier now coming back to leave comments. Love all the sharp details seen in this wind kissed dandelion. Great macro shot. I can clearly see and 'feel' the downy softness of this plants white soft spokes. The black backdrop really allow the white hues of the dandelion to step up and take center stage for it visually pops off the page. |

colour the skyby zoodiacComment: Voted earlier now coming back to leave comments. A synchronized flight of the red, white and blues! I do like the widescreen version a bit better for you get a sense of the wide open sky that these fabulous flyers occupy. It gives us/me a better sense of being there at this airshow by allowing us to project into the scene as one of the spectators. Oh don't get me wrong the other version that remember seeing in the portfolio was a fabulous shot as well. But if I remember correctly it was a tight square crop that gave a tight narrow 'tunnel vision view' that does not readily allow one to project themselves as there at the event. Great action, colors and sense of 'being there' to 'witness' this amazing sight. Great job! |

Portrait of a Robber Flyby rozComment: It one EVER wondered what the details of a robber fly looks like, this is an excellent photo to demonstrate it! As much as I do not like flies, I can fully appreciate all the details seen on this capture. Wow, just look at the individual hairs on it's legs and face - who knew it was 'bearded'?:-) And the details in the compound eyes - you can literally count the dots in its eyes! Fabulous macro capture - hats off to you for patience to get this shot. Flying insects rarely stay fixed for long so you probably had seconds to get the focus right. |

Mysticalby elsapoComment: Some may not like the hues for it is too orange/golden tones, but I do. Why? The hues are warm colors and the warm glow captured here along with the resting butterfly (painted lady?) really give a sense of warm summer days with the occasional soft cool breeze. It is soft in detail but for this composition it is very fitting - for it is the softness that adds to the magical dreamy feel to this composition. The colors and soft focus really helps capture that mood of a dreamy summer day. Well done. |

House Finch in Late Winterby MaryOComment: Wow, look at the beautiful details you can see from the individual feathers on the wings to the soft downy texture of the brown/grey feathers just above the wing...and ice crystals on the tree branch!!! The splash of color with that bold red head on the finch brings some vibrancy to a cold winter scene. Love that you also caught some nice catchlight in the eye as well as the bokeh of the winter branches in the backdrop that complete this winter scene. |
