He misses his old flameby eyeduphotosComment: Although she grilled him terribly, Bleys missed his old flame. In this char-boiled world he lost her too the Big Easy:-)
Love the rusted frown on this old grill. Lighting and composition are great. |

Diablo Beachby orvaratliComment: This is a gorgeously minimalistic shot that captures and captivates our eyes. Congrats on the high placement. I absolutely love the silhouettes of those rocky mountains seen off in the distance where the sunset colors linger. The brooding sky and the ghostly bluish-white hues of the ocean just really makes the image pop. One of my two tens that I passed out during the challenge. The title made me think that this was Diablo beach in Uruguay - but it is far from it as you can get:-) |

~visions of sugarplums~by JutildaComment: Well done! Beautiful portrait of this lovely little girl. Lighting is soft and wonderfully done to show off her beauty. Her expression also captures the attention. Love that little smile - akin to the Mona Lisa smile in that we wonder just what she is smiling about. What does she see or is thinking: is she looking out the window thinking of all the fun she is going to have in the snow or looking out the window with satisfaction of the snowman she built or perhaps thinking of a nice warm cup of hot chocolate when she gets back in the house:-) |

Solitude in Stiltsvilleby yakatmeComment: The first time I ever saw Stiltsville was on Miami Vice while living in L.A. ...now that I am in the state I see it featured in the papers from time to time. To locals this capture would instantly grab our attention - to the larger (inter)national public the picture will have to work harder to capture and captivate attention. Critiquely looking at the photo it is slightly above average but needs some extra 'umph' to put push it into the 7-9 score category. The thing about the sky is that those colors are almost in competition with the hues on the building (certainly true of the pinks) and the blueish hues of the ocean - thus not letting the building truly pop off the page nor having the ground (sea) plane stand out/separate from the sky portion. I have seen spectacular sunrise and sunset colors in the sky down here so I am spoiled in the fact that Mother Nature could have done a better job for you on this day:-) Don't you just wish that you could have Mother Nature on speed dial on your phone to ask her to give you a better backdrop to work with?:-) (I know I wish I did). Some other have said the composition of elements could be better. Perhaps a bit more cropped so that the Stiltsville house dominates (and slighter bigger in view) the far right third of the photo. Keep the lighthouse in the far left of the photo. As you have it now the house looks like it is 'facing' and looking at the lighthouse and shore in the far off distance. Cropping and bringing us closer in how you compose the elements will just make that imagery of the Stiltsville house gazing at the lighthouse in the distance all the more stronger. "Oh, thanks! ... I LOVE cheese..." by LydiaComment: Congrats on the ribbon! Well I was just going to commend you for the vast amount of patience you must have had with waiting for this little guy to pose just right for you! Chuckle, you took the easy way...and a little to gutsy for me would not have touched it:-) But I do agree with you how we go nuts over our photography, the way he holds the cheese with his paws and that smile on his mouth is priceless:-) The kids think this is an adorable shot...no they did not read the description for it would just make them sad to know that the little mouse was not alive. |

DSC_9824AAADP.jpgby ColeyComment: The question is: Is the color of the bus still green or did you paint it white? ...hmmmm, if DPC announces a Pet Portrait V challenge in the next 3 weeks or so you could bring in a Dalmatian into the shot (maybe even 101 dalmatians if you could swing it):-) If the bus is still the lovely green I'd say bring back the flower power:-) |

Paparazzi!by gsalComment: I love the expression you captured here!!! The B&W tones are very bold and dynamic; it focuses our attention ever more on the boy giving us the raspberry:-) Again it is the expression that captures and holds the attention - makes me chuckle:-) Gratz on the high finish. |

Rainy Day Poetryby TechoComment: Did not get to comment when in voting but I definitely fell in love with the mood and magic captured here that I fav'ed it right away. Love the dynamic tones and the water drops that appear like jewels on the bare branches. Gratz on the high finish - a very lovely image. |

Flying High With Prideby yakatmeComment: Didn't get to comment but when saw this in voting my jaw hit the floor. This is an amazing shot - all the more that you both had the patience to try again and again to nail it. And bummer, that it was shot the day before The Spirit of a Country challenge I feel that this would have definitely been in the top 10! But gratz on being in the top 20% in a Free Study Challenge - that is great finish in my book:-) Hope things go well and you make the cover - again it is an amazing action shot and would certainly make any observer do a double take and stare at the photo if on the cover of a magazine. |
