Love the cool duo-tones for they are very dynamic in this composition. The photo really shows off the detail in this dragonfly's wings. I really can get a nice appreciation of the lactices and delicate nature of the wings. Only plaint is that I ALMOST wish more of the wing was in sharp focus - great DOF with higher aperature and slower shutter speed would accomplish that. I say almost because I don't know how much improving the DOF would destroy the 'soft' dreamy quality of the shot - which the more I look at it, the more it grows on me.

Wow the colors on this bird are lovely! I didn't know that they could have such rainbow coloration. Love the bokeh that creates a wonderful golden backdrop for this bird to pop off of. Detail is fabulous as well with it giving me some great details to look at from the feathers to the wings to the beak and eye. Wonderful avian shot!

Very nice! Love these snow ponies. Great framing on the composition of elements. Love how the one pony is framed by the body of the pony standing majestically in front. A subtle little visual stating that this is -his- mate or perhaps this is his son in which it is a family connection. Great colors and and lighting!

Heh, great capture and look at all the nice detail! The details are so nice and sharp I can see the individual filiaments on the feathers.

Entrapped

I see this as a very poetic photo in mood and feel. Actually, this instantly reminded me of a haiku I wrote years ago and had it had tree branches instead of bars it would match perfectly

Tree branch curves skyward
Reaching low to snare the moon
Echo bathed beauty

Nonetheless the moon is an echo bathed beauty here but it is ensnared or trapped by the bars that invokes imagery of imprisonment. That the moon is no longer free to roam the sky but trapped earthbound is a very powerful image. My only plaint is that I wish that the rock did not obscure the surface of the moon (and if this is not a moon but a streetlight don't tell me please for it will destroy the imagery) This is a very artistic and visual poetry shot. Bumping up.

Divine Sunset

I love the warm, rich tones of orange and yellows in this sunset shoot. What really sets this apart from just another sunset over the mountains is the compositional framing. You included the trees to act as a natural frame to add dimension and interest to your shot. Not to mention that you have some interesting rolling hillsides to frame the bottom portion of the composition. Lighting and silhouetting of the trees also adds a great amount of visual appeal. Lovely.

Arctic Wolf

I absolutely love the bokeh effect that creates this dramatic golden/orange backdrop for this white wolf. Love the details I can see in the fur coat and rich brown color of his eyes as he stare down at me. I get the feeling he is definately surveying his domain and watching for intruders!

Getting Up Steam

I like the composition of this train with the orientation that the train seems to be coming at you as one stands just off to the far side of the tracks. Details are great as is the lighting. The thing that is holding back this shot from moving up into the above average category is that the contrasts are a bit flat and could be more dynamic. There is a lot of mid-grey tones here that could use a boost in the contrast such that there is more of a dynamic range of whites, greys and blacks. Sometimes just a straight greyscale or a colorize set at 0,0 is not enough and you have to play around with the brightness/contrast levels or shadow/midtone/highlights to get a greater dynamic range of tones.

Ah the sites, sounds, games and rides of a faire! Love how you captured this one boy looking at the ride. Love that you captured the movement of the ride rather than it being static. For now, like the boy, I get to see this ride in action...and also like this child I will then decide if I want to ride it or not:-) Love the colors too - all objects within the composition are excellently illuminated. Wonderful photo that captures the feel and mood of a local faire.

Festival Spirit

Love the colors of the costumes and the expression of the man you captured in the forground. Open mouth in mid battle cry/whoop such that I can almost hear the noise and spectacle. Great detail and well composed. Not only is my eye captured by the man in festival garb in front but I can see the procession of other like dressed festival goers in the background. I would be curious to learn the details as to what and where this festival took place after the challenge rollsover.
