Longtime Seeking by PascalComment: Followed your Life in the City Entry (congrats on the ribbon!) and found your photo that has stuck in my mind but could not remember who the photographer was. To me this captures a mood and feel of a quiet morning; a early stroll when the sights and sounds of the city is asleep so that one can take a stroll in quiet contemplation with only a lone dog as a companion. Love the B&W tones - and I am a sucker for a good umbrella shot (I love umbrellas - owning about 10 - used to be 11 but I lost that one somewhere ) |

Rebirthby TammsterComment: Okay, now that DPL has had the ship docked for a few weeks - going back now to fav this shot Tammy. It is and remains so one of those lovely scenery shots that just leaves you breathless with the beauty shown in the composition. |

Three Gracesby AliciaComment: Of the two I have to say I like this one the best...and it is an image I had remembered from way back when the challenge came out but could not remember who had done it...til now:-). The silhouettes of the three ladies are deep and really pop off the white backdrop...to me I see them as three muses emerging out of the mists of time/history/inspiration or another viewpoint that contends with that is that it is a memory of three ladies (ancestors perhaps) emerging from the mists of memory; a day at the beach long gone but happy memories remain. For a while I had thought I was remembering this as another artist's work for it would make a good pairing of light and then shadow Arthur Domagala's The Dying of the Light |

profileby mayizeComment: O.K. a slightly above average shot of a .....whoa! You have a great eye to have spotted this photo opportunity! Love the parallels here: human and ape. I do think that you could have gotten away with calling this "Profiles" - just to offer another hint to those who would quickly pass this by without noticing the little visual gem you have here. Love that you caught the two profiles looking away from each other for that also adds visual interest; two species, two paths. The gorilla also has an facial expression that makes me think he/she is listening to some inner music or meditative state (perhaps reflecting upon inner being/spirit perhaps). This photo could hold many different meanings. |

Grog Work Shiny Picture Boxby cowtownmomComment: Taking time to finally leave some comments. Now the chronicles of Grog can be complete - we have a confirmed sighting of him and pictures to boot:-)!!! Welcome to DPC, o'wife of Grog:-), and great work here. Lighting, composition and details are absolutely wonderful. This humorous shot is well done - will Grog use his hand to push the button on the keyboard or will he use his club:-) I giggled reading the description - yup what we crazy photographers do for our creative outlet;-) Congrats on the high finish. |

VERY complicatedby Yo_SpiffComment: Taking some time out to leave some comments. Congrats Steve on the top 5 placement! Love all the details you put into this piece right down to the small type; the details propel this above average shot into the excellent top notch. It made me laugh - love the humor. The lighting and pose of your main subjects is just spot on perfect. Excellent work! |

Hot Air Balloon???by bcenuComment: Long time overdue in commenting; (Hello Neighbor...your entry is right above mine). The idea and execution in this composition is minimalistic and very well done. Color choice was great. The red really pops (sorry for using that term as we are talking balloons here:-) ) off the black backdrop. Love how you also composed the balloon to come out at the diagonal for it adds visual interest. And wonderful idea to have the flame jet coming out such that it makes you think of the big hot air balloons; the small, simple object can project the idea of the larger, complex object. Great job! |

mixologyby klkitchensComment: Long time overdue in commenting; (Hello Neighbor...your entry is right next to mine). Wanted to come back and say that I like the colors and the angle that this was taken for it has good visual interest. Having your main subjects coming out of the diagonal adds strength to the visual composition. The vibrant colors of orange and yellow also grab my eye's attention. Nice details here too with the bubbles in the soda in the glass. The only thing I find that could be improved is that with the white backdrop sometimes details in the highlights and shadows can be blown - the edges of the sides of the glass where the soda is not found is rather blown out. |
