Fulmer Fallsby bassboneComment: Love the B&W presentation of the waterfall - tones of light and dark are very dynamic. The silky smooth flow of the water pops off the darker tones of the rocks and darker waters in the foreground. Very beautifully done. |

FOCUSby DKZComment: Very cute kitten with wonderful big eyes just staring at us. Focus is great on the triangular face area (eyes, nose, mouth), but gets soft and blurred the further out. Love the detail I can see on the fur in the frontal portion of the face. I think the composition would be stronger if the rest of the head and body had the same great level of detail seen in the front portion of the face. A faster ISO and a high aperture (8 or above) would get that greater DOF. |

Mt Fuji - sunsetby soonComment: Wow - fire in the sky and a perfect complement to the volcano! Love the bold and vibrant hues that 'erupt' in the sky in the landscape shot featuring Mt. Fuji. There is also that great blanket of haze/fog that adds a layer of separation between the man-made landscape and that of nature's landscape. Very nicely processed and captured. |

Lunchby JCrest01Comment: I love the colors and the composition of this shot. The greens, yellows and browns of the tree and bird really pops off the plan white backdrop - makes me think of the first blush of spring. Love how you composed/captured the shot with the bird centered in the natural triangle shaped frame that is the branches of this tree. Also great capture that you caught this bird with a seed/food in it's beak - nice bit of added visual interest. My only critique is that the frame of the image is so big that it engulfs the image - I think the image is strong enough to stand out on it's own with little to no border. |

splendidamente distrattoby smardazComment: She has gorgeous big eyes & an elegant long neck in this lovely portrait. The B&W really plays up those features - I instantly thought of the classic photo shot of Twiggy when I saw this. Simple, elegant and well done portrait of this young lady. |

Big Surby sporkmongerComment: Fabulous landscape that is very beautiful to observe. I can feel the wind and the chill. A good shot but there are two things holding this back from being a great shot. First off is that there seems to be a lack of sharpness to the scene (oddly the coulds appear in good focus). I'm thinking that mayhap the sharpness is there on the original large size and this is a case where resizing a large file in one stop has some loss of detail. It is better to do the resizing of a large image file in two or three stops with a sharpen in between - you suffer less loss of detail that way. If the less tack sharp is not due to resizing you can recover a bit of the lost detail with use of USM (unsharp mask /sharpen feature) but be careful not to go overboard. Lastly, the composition could be even stronger if you played up the strength of using the bridge as a leading line in the photo. I think it would be a stronger composition if you captured the full arch of the bridge where the other arch point/base springs out of the bottom left hand corner - the lines would then lead the eye to the span of beauty beyond. |

Star trails over tulip field by william88Comment: That is some stunning and vibrant colors on those tulips! And this shot at night no less. The windmill is another fabulous element to the composition. Love the sweep of the star trails that makes me think of 'wind'. A solar wind that provides beauty to the scene and rather than moving the panels of the windmill their beauty coupled with the tulips moves your audience. Breathlessly beautiful. |

The Arcadeby jbrightComment: The Grove Arcade yes? Been in the vicinity twice while on vacation and never had the time to go in. Beautiful with all the iron scroll work on the stairs the shoppes and the open feel provided by that lovely large skylight ceiling. Love the composition where the stairwell opens up like a stage that leads my eye onward. Nice splash of color in the center with the red restaurant umbrellas and the U.S. flag that hangs overhead. This must have been really early morning for their is not a soul in sight (or maybe it is when their was that snowstorm that most did not want to venture out). Because there is no one strolling the mall the composition shows off some wonderful lines and the huge expanse of the place. |

Boat House Row on New Year's Eveby MeMex2Comment: The houses on the row do look very beautiful at that time of the year - and the reflections just add to the beauty. This is a nice capture but there is one big thing that really mars the beauty of the scene. Heavy noise that appears in the night sky and the dark portions of the river. It is a mottled mix of red/blue blotches. Either a good noise reduction program will take care of that or lowering the ISO to 100 or even 50 to reduce the noise when taking a nighttime shot (of course then you will have to lower the shutter speed to 1/2 second or more that would call for a tripod to get a steady unblurred shot) |

tkarontoby wolfComment: Excellently exposed and fabulous details of the city. Love the angle presented for I get the feel I am in a helicopter swooping through the city. Love the slight golden tones applied to the B&W - bathes the city in a magical warm glow. Fantastic work. |
