::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
This is so cute ... and the shoes fit so well.

Composition:
Two things and these are from total learning expereicne - always iron the background ... even if it is to be left hanging ... the creases of non ironed products show more than any others.

She is really very centred in the frame ... I find that looking to the rule of thirds helps me to frame up my shots and not go for the nicely centred looking happy kind of snap.

Subject:
Meets the challenge ... and does so very well.

Technical (Colour and light):
Take real note here of what photojennic and mellismatica are saying about having her close to the background and also the type of flash used. These are things to learn from for your next challenges.

To grow its vote?:
Always try other crops and different angles ... personally I think that changing and looking at the shot from a voters point of view helps when editing .. so you realise what will and won't work (this is learned and not intuative I think).

Summary:
Keep shooting .. you have some skills here to build with ... and a great model ... (should see mine hehehe).

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

Interesting to do a critique on your image but it is difficult if you don't give us any information in your photographers comments. When we do a critique, we go past just the photographic result, that's what voters comments do. The critique looks at what you were trying to achieve, how you wanted it to look and what issues you had in getting the image captured and ready for voting.

First Impression - the most important one:
Interesting .. but missing something ... the crop is a little strange.

Composition:
This is where i think you have issues ... the balcolny is almost straight - but not quite ... because of the angle of the shot the eye is a little confused.

I think that with a balcony shot like this it would have been good to include the bottom or at least a little more of the balcony. but another option would be a right crop of the balcony and grey bricks ... this gives a good focus area .. and really pops the image.

Subject:
I am not sure of what the literary reference is .. but I sure it meets the challenge.

Technical (Colour and light):
Playing with brightness or light in the post processing may have helped - but the focus is a little off ...

To grow its vote?:
Try again with the cropping ... and play with the contrast and brightness .. these are things I tend to use ... and they seem to work.

Summary:
Not your best scoring and through a little more post processing may have been better ... but you did good .. keep it up.

Hi Kita

I have the pleasure once again of critiquing one of your images.

First Impression - the most important one:
I like this ... not only has it taken the perspective of giving hte character - but supplying the book .. no one else did this and got away with it.

Composition:
I found the composition not too bad ... I would probably starting thinking about how you can use the rule of thirds to your advantage in the croping - what I mean is it would have beeb nice for barbie to be a third of the way into the picture - she is a little too much in the middle.

Subject:
Meets the challenge - I think that there may have been an issue with some of the older members not realising that young people don't read shakespeare that often .. and barbie is in fact reasonable literature - noting from your comments received some guessed you were young.

Technical (Colour and light):
I like this ... as one commentor said you have provided a "nice example of exposure control for white backgrounds"

To grow its vote?:
I was not sure right away that I liked the background ... putting her a little out to nature .. or different colours ... not sure ... but they are always options.

Summary:
Not your highest scoring .. but I think a good solid effort .. look forward to seeing more of your work.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers
