::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

Interesting to do a critique on your image but it is difficult if you don't give us any information in your photographers comments. When we do a critique, we go past just the photographic result, that's what voters comments do. The critique looks at what you were trying to achieve, how you wanted it to look and what issues you had in getting the image captured and ready for voting. On so many of your pictures you have a story to tell .. but one some you don't. That story helps when doing critiques. :)

First Impression - the most important one:
its a really warm picture .. the tones bring that really to the fore.

Composition:
Thirds works here .. I really like how you choose not to use the whole window pane set ..and just the quater circle image.

Subject:
Meets the challenge well.

Technical (Colour and light):
These work well for the shot.

To grow its vote?:
from the cvoting and comments this is an above average picture, but it didn't really grab the viewer ... in this sort of challenge .. the veiwer needs to be taken into the scene .. almost become part of it ... you will see that in the winninn shots.

Summary:
Well done, a solid shot. Keep it up and keep improving.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Yeah .. it works .. but does it grab me .. what I am meant to focus on ... solid picture .. but I am a little confused.

Composition:
For the writing this is a lovely composition .. I love how you really used the frame of the window to contain the scene ... I am really curious as to what some of these people are doing ... drinking coffee .. dreaming of things better, writing stories .. observing life ...

Subject:
Works .. and meets the challenge well.

Technical (Colour and light):
The black and white really works well for this picture .. it also plays a total hand in creating the mood here.

To grow its vote?:
I get lost a little .. which means to me there is no single real WOW factor .. more of a curious drag me back slowly into the image. I like it .. but yeah .. am not sure of what part to look at.

Summary:
Great pic ... well done .. I like this and think it adds to your portfolio nicely.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Right direction .. yeah I think so .. there are soooo many improvements form the last picture I critiqued.

Composition:
I think this is done ok. There are always issues when the main feature we are looking at is dirty .. be it a glass of wine .. coffee cup that is grubby .. is a really dirty window. Sometimes ... it pays to ignore what other people think and clean up that bit that needs it ... in this case the window glass needs a good clean to get a good reflection and to be able to see though easily to your father in law.

Subject:
Met the challenge .. and did it quite well .... some tidy up needed on the execution. I think this pushed you a little more .. and the fact you are happy is good. Maybe the issue is there is so much ... the reflection of the outside scene and the inside scene.

Technical (Colour and light):
I like this is different ways .. the natural outside light vs the inside lamp .. is quite a difficult and crucial balance here.

To grow its vote?:
A number of commentors made mention of noise .. this is something that bugs me here .. but I thought was good enough to still give a reasonable score. Try taking a look at neat image .. they have a freeware version .. it may just help with that aspect.

Summary:
Told ya last time .. you will improve if you keep trying.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers
