Last weekend we went to Antwerp. I saw this window and knew it was my entry for this challenge.

I didn't check my settings, so I totally underexposed.. I took another photo but that one didn't come out the way I thought.
I had to PP a lot on this one, but that way the grainy look appeared, and I'm very happy with it! Had some troubles with the deformation, still not very pleased with it, but what the **** ;)

PP:

levels, B/W, skew, crop, dodge, burn, black&white canvas

Very nice b&w processing and neat street shot.

Definately has a classic feel with the b/w and the grain.
Nicely done.

::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Yeah .. it works .. but does it grab me .. what I am meant to focus on ... solid picture .. but I am a little confused.

Composition:
For the writing this is a lovely composition .. I love how you really used the frame of the window to contain the scene ... I am really curious as to what some of these people are doing ... drinking coffee .. dreaming of things better, writing stories .. observing life ...

Subject:
Works .. and meets the challenge well.

Technical (Colour and light):
The black and white really works well for this picture .. it also plays a total hand in creating the mood here.

To grow its vote?:
I get lost a little .. which means to me there is no single real WOW factor .. more of a curious drag me back slowly into the image. I like it .. but yeah .. am not sure of what part to look at.

Summary:
Great pic ... well done .. I like this and think it adds to your portfolio nicely.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

I really liked the classic b&w feel and the crop of this and gave it an 8.

A good street photo but what it really needs is a dominant face, if only the guy in the lower right corner was looking out, like he was waiting for someone it would really have hit a spot with me.

For me the window signs take away from whats really going on in the photo and I think its more about what the people are doing.

I would have liked to see more of the interior. Circular polarizer?

I really like this. Despite having no real subject, the high contrast B&W is really appealing to me.

Some nice textures and you have met the challenge, but nothing interesting is happening here. I love the juxtaposition of fonts.

Nice subject. It feels like the subject is the window rather than the thing that is framing the subject. Good work.

Mooi!! De spiegeling vind ik het geheel afmaken! Een van de weinigen die echt recht ingekaderd zijn! Van mij mag dit je eerst ribbon worden!!
