::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
What is parched .. the earth .. .and therefore that is a failure, the guy therefore he failed or the fence that really is broken .. or failed.

Composition:
This is good .. uses rule of thirds for some, but I have a hard time knowing what to focus on.

Subject:
Again, three things that are alll perhaps different failures ... but which are you talking about.

Technical (Colour and light):
Black and white don't work here, if you are showing the grass as parched you can not tell from the lack of colour. If you are meaning the bloke we can't see enough of him. The lack of colour has also made this a very flat picture.

To grow its vote?:
Try to pick and focus and work wtih that ... too many distractions make an image hard to vote high on.

Summary:
Good work .. it is an interesting picture.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Wow .. an achievement indeed.

Composition:
Thsi is lovely for this shot .. the child looking outside ensures that our eyes are captivated by whatever has him under a spell.

Subject:
Lovely meets the challenge, really weird the amount of subjects that do as success is really self determined.

Technical (Colour and light):
The focus is a little soft ... but colours and lighting are fine.

To grow its vote?:
Well it is hard to know really ... as this is so subjetive, I think that a lot of people do not understand a child is a success so it is really rolling with the punches.

Summary:
Lovely shot .. always hold him in pride of heart.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
I think that this is a love it or hate it shot.

Composition:
This is the area I think that it lacks most. It is not working to any rule of photography that I know (and I don't know many) .. .and just seems like a little something in the courner of a whole big picture of a doorstep.

Subject:
It does say success ... even though I don't think it is a four leaf clover it is still a brave plant to grow in that little gap.

Technical (Colour and light):
The colours are over saturated with the red being too red. I think there is a little too much bakground in this shot and with a tighter crop on the growth it may have done better.

To grow its vote?:
You did ok ... keeep it up.

Summary:
A good safe shot .. you have a great eye for the unusual.

So cool to have a response and it is amazing that the colours are natural .. I don't think I have ever seen any that are so crisp as these.

I appreciate your response ... and am always happy to hear from someone I have reviewed.

Cheers again

Kari

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
You got the cute vote .. I can tell by the comments. This is sooooooo cute it ain't funny.

Composition:
is a lovely shot but very centred ... which is a minor for this shot.

Subject:
meets the challenge and does so in a cute and fuzzy way.

Technical (Colour and light):
i really like this ...it is reasonbly dark which has been picked up by some commentors, but I don't see this detracting from the natural shot.

To grow its vote?:
Take it from another angle .. front on capture the look from the eyes ... hehehe (I think you did well with a nature shot)

Summary:
Great work ... fantastic capture.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
outside your norm and you still got top 15 ... you are good.

Composition:
The player is centred but the action is all around so this really does work.

Subject:
So subjective really, failure is really self determined.

Technical (Colour and light):
lovely colours and a good sharp action shot.

To grow its vote?:
Take not of what is below include the ball next time (heheh)

Summary:
Great work .. and well done ... not bad placing for a placeholder.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Size is important when creating an image, and working to the maximum size is best .. . try and get at least 640 on the long side to maximise the potential of a shot.

Composition:
Interesting woody and woody almost both of thirds.

Subject:
I really love this shot ... it is only the size that let it down to me.

Technical (Colour and light):
I like the creation of using the foil or the background of the shot.

To grow its vote?:
Think about size, think about impact and light. Think about the rule of thirds (google it) .. this will keep you on the way.

Summary:
Great first entry I am impressed .. imagination and an eye.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Seems more of a snapshot than an image that was thought out and composed, I think this is a candid, which is great, but in order to really make something of the shot you needed to capture what was realy happening, perhaps a closer shot of the kid lighting the candle .. not so much background and distracting elements.

Composition:
I think the this is ok .. but personally a close up of the kid may have been better as the other elements add little to the shot.

Subject:
With the title it meets the challenge but without it it doesn't say much. It is hard to convey to others the importance of what is taking place without the story for this image.

Technical (Colour and light):
Nice colours good lighting.

To grow its vote?:
Think about the crop .. maybe getting down on the ground to capture the actual event ... perhaps even having it so we can read one of the bottles.

Summary:
Good pic, well done.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Good shot ... interesting to a degree ... again it is the title that makes the image success and that is where in scoring I think the issues happen.

Composition:
Well done, good crop ... and god thirds.

Subject:
Meets the challenge with the title .. doesn't without it ... that is the issue I think with the scoring.

Technical (Colour and light):
Good lighting, sharp image, and great colours.

To grow its vote?:
have the image itself meet the challenge with little add from the title itself.

Summary:
well done , i think a shot to be proud of.
