An architectural milestone for the Japanese. An old abandoned "ofuro" (Japanese Bath) amidst the beautiful green surroundings of the mountains of Kyushu, southern Japan. some sharpening, contrast adjustment, a little vignetting and cropping.

Okay, I will admit, when I saw this one in the challenge, I wasn't sure how to make it connect to architecture. After reading your comments, I'm slightly more enlightened, but still feel like it may have been a reach. :)

Compositionally, this shot really works well. The tub fills the frame and is obviously the main focal point. Also, there is enough space around it to give it interest and context. What I really like is that you did not shoot "straight" and the tub is angled somewhat in the frame. This helps make it feel more balanced, I believe.

The greens contrast nicely with the sunshine, and this shot just oozes comfort to me.

Technically, the focus is good, and it looks like the exposure is pretty close (I am on my work computer, which seems to be a shade or two dark).

This is a well done shot, and had the challenge been "old" or "ancient inventions" or something like that, I have no doubt that your score would have been a full point or two higher. I suspect many voters did not make the connection between this object and "architecture."

Architecture ... I don't know that a bath counts really.

Using a new formula....
Meets the Challenge = 2
Technical Merit = 2
Holds Interest = 1
Creativity = 1
The "wow factor" = 0
Final score: 6

Not sure the lens flare works here. The tub has plenty of character on its own; why distract from it? The contrast of the tub vs nature is nice, maybe highlight that more.

I like the frame, and decrepit bath too. Even the flare. It is architecture to thoe that think it is and to those that don't it's a bath to be contained within architecture.

Nice shot, but not getting architecture out of this.

I like the sun flare. It just gives the picture an otherworldly feel. Not sure I care for the funky frame though. Then of course I'm not sure any other frame would have worked as well.

I love the actual image however I don't see how it meets the challenge. But I like it so much I am still giving it a 6.

The lens flare really adds to this shot.
Well done.

Not an architectural subject, presented badly.
