Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Lovely picture ... she looks a little uncomfortable .. but I think it is the outfit.

Composition:
This is good, the eyes are on the thirds line, the way that is is looking up captures the colours in her eyes, the shoulders look a little stiff and uncomfortable - perhaps an unnatural pose for this child.

Subject:
This really does meet the challenge well ... so often we forget about children being our success (even if not our own).

Technical (Colour and light):
There appears to be a little much red in the face, though this may be her. The focus is good and crisp so that we cn make out each freckle.

To grow its vote?:
I think that the other crop you have in your portfolio may have done better ... it removes the suface fluffyness of the dress which the child looks slightly uncomfortable in. Although it doesn't seem quite as sharp and this may be why you choose not to enter than one.

Summary:
This is a really good pic, I hope you offered her dad a print.

forth place ... do I need to say more.

Composition:
I like this .. the use of negative space pulls the eye into the picture well.

Subject:
meets the challene ... and does so well. Of course you have the trolls but we all deal with them.

Technical (Colour and light):
lovely use of black and white ... good defintiion of the eyes ... and lovely sharp details.

To grow its vote?:
Shoot number 3 ... that is all i can suggest then you can ribbon :)

Summary:
lovely ... emotive and just right.

First Impression - the most important one:
heavy ... but that is the impression you want from a shot like this.

Composition:
Its ok .. and it works for this shot ...the table hits the horizontal thirds ... but I think the spoon should maybe have been set to hit both the horizontal and vertical lines of thirds ... to just entice a little more for the eye.

Subject:
Yeah .. this one certainly meets the challenge. its a pity really that it happens.

Technical (Colour and light):
The candle has flared at the wrong moment and wiped the detail from that portion of the picture. DOF is good .. we really wouldn't want to see his face anyways. I like the colours that you have pulled from this shot.

To grow its vote?:
Think a little more about the photography rules when setting up a shot ... this will help in accessing the layouts that you are creating.

Summary:
Good picture ... a bit of gritty realism never killed anyone :)
