I'm normally a sucker for B&W, but the toning in this one is fantastic. You asked about halos and shadow/highlight. I remember reading somewhere that if you crank the radius it will reduce it so that's what I normally do, although I never paid that much attention to it.

What a shame this scored so low, this was one of my favorites of the challenge. Unfortunately something abstract doesn't score well in a non-abstract challenge. You got a lot of high scores so at least it resonated with some people, including me.

You sure have the eye for these candids. It took me a minute to figure out why that shadow works so well. The guy is mostly lighter than the background, while his shadow is dark against a light background.

That looks cold and loud! Not sure if it was dodge/burning or how the light was naturally, but the lighter spot on the left third just glows nicely. Toning adds to the "chill".

Lovely colors and detail. I like how the lines lead to a point of convergence. As far as the DOF, you can probably stop down a bit, but that may not be enough. You can also back up but then you may not be close enough to get the detail. If you do get the flower in focus but also the background, you'll need to blur it. If you need help just shout out in the thread.
