I Believe I Can Fly by cools98Comment: Congrats Scott. Very deserving. I love the skater's posture and anticipation of landing his jump. |

i saw a skull instead of my faceby sherComment: Death and who hung this on the fence? Looks like a sign/warning, either to some poor buck or a trespasser. I like the bokeh little circly thingys. The textures in the photo are nice and I assume you may have added a texture layer during processing. Not necessarily my type but it was pulled off with class. |

The Spirit of Mexico - Cinco de Mayoby tetoComment: Hi from the Critique Club,
Well, just out of the top 5 so it seems like you did something right! :)
Your picture is striking. I particularly like the orange color of the background as it sets off the stitching of his hat quite nicely. You have given the viewer a couple of strong lines to peruse, particularly the leading lines of the fiddle's neck up to the bow.
By hiding most of the models face, the attention is placed more heavily on his hat and instrument. This gives it more of an impersonal feel but still gives a good sense of the holiday.
Technicals are good, really my only nitpic is the mass of dark/shadow on the models right side(camera left). I suppose a small directional light coming from camera left could have given a little more depth the the shadows.
PM me if you have any questions and good luck in your future challenges.
Mark

Oh, The Places You'll Go!by CutterComment: Please PM me with the technique for clouds with such defined edges. I've wondered about it for a while but haven't figured it out. Thanks! You've done a nice job leading the viewer through the foreground out into ....the future. |
