Line Driveby JPetraliaXComment: *Critique Club*
"Line Drive" is a nice entry into the Children's Toy challenge. I think it is extremely hard to try and create something like a previous image, especially with voters. They seem to only like when there is a new twist on an old idea.
The image itself is excellent in my opinion. I think the placement of the ball is excellent and demands attention. Great job with a brand new camera, that had to be a hard part of the challenge for yourself. Personally I might try the placement of the ball just a little higher so that the trademark r is not cutoff. Then this might increase the composition just a little bit, don't get me wrong I really like it but maybe just a little more ball. Overall you did an excellent job with this shot, I think voters were just looking for something a little different in this challenge. |

Great ! I've retired...by vanbirdComment: *Critique Club*
"Great ! I've retired..." is a nice idea. The subject does fit into the Children's Toy challenge and the title is prefect for the shot.
I think one of the hardest things at first is mastering the resizing of your shot. You can defiantly tell voters are very critical so I would always make sure you have made as big as you can. Also I would just make sure you have a good focus. This was probably a hard shot, especially if you were just down on the street trying to capture this shot. You might think about trying to have the lines straight in the shot, like the bottom of the rail straight across the shot. I know that you left the planters in the shot to show the horse as being retired but you might try a tighter crop on the sides. Overall I think you have some great ideas and the more practice in these challenge the more your work will grow. I am still extremely far away from top but I have learned a lot just by entering. |

Chugga Chugga Choo Chooby deepfrog17Comment: *Critique Club*
"Chugga Chugga Choo Choo" is a wonderful entry into the Children's Toy challenge. In todays society anyone with a little boy knows who Thomas is and how magical he is. Great choice of subject!
The image its self grabs your attention. The lighting is the first thing I notice because it is enhancing the subject and the smoke. I bet you had a hard time deciding on the background for this shot. To me the background seem a little off but I think it would have affected the shot way to much if you decided to go with a solid background. The only thing I might try is to add some light from the front side, so we have a little light on the face. It was a great idea and congrats on the top 20%. I look forward to your future submissions. |
