Jan 12 2010by JaimeVinasComment: Lovely. Btw, I'm noticing a line running along side the edge of her blouse on her chest. Is that a shadow? |

The Goose Lady by zifengwComment: I'm also glad this won. It's not often when you come across a blue ribbon winner where the wow factor was in it's authenticity. No wonder it also took the Posthumous Blue Ribbon. Congratulations! Message edited by author 2010-01-13 00:29:13. |

The MASTER by andrewtComment: I gave this a 7 thinking it was James Cameron's entry. :P Seriously, as you already mentioned the head effect could have been more refined but in a way was symbolic given the narrative. Message edited by author 2010-01-13 00:17:02. |

9 Wes.jpgby ErikVComment: Nice light. Just a thought, a subject like this might benefit from a more dynamic composition. For example, a lower angle using the hood of the car as a leading line to the model might give the subject more spark and ignite the senses. |

That's a pretty good job of combining the two images. One thing I've found is when combining images it works best when you try to marry the two in the same light or introduce a new light source that affects both images. Doing it in post is not easy but by doing it you give the light more depth and in turn the scene looks more believable as a result. However, this doesn't just apply to composites. Photos taken on location can sometimes have this issue when the ambient light is dialed way down to allow the strobes to overpower it. Sometimes it'll look cool but it will always look fake because of the light. Now when the subject looks cool and the light looks real then you've done something. Just a thought. |
