Why... you little THIEF! by scalvertComment: To be honest I liked Trollman's shot better but it's great that you were rewarded with blue. I love how your pretty darn good at taking photographs but far better at coming up with great ideas. Congrats! Message edited by author 2006-05-24 00:39:33. |

Built tough by TrollManComment: That was stunning. I LOVE the blurred water. A refreshing change from the stop motion water shots. |

Yellow Flowers by 2mccsComment: I really liked this when I saw it. I think I may prefer this as a b/w image or something similar but challenge-wise this was the way to go. Congrats on your first ribbon! |

A cup of Pinkby arnitComment: Every time I see a crop like this I think of your work. It seems to work so well with models and still life. Very iconic. |

Still Before the First Gasp of Windby gciboComment: I don't feel this meets the challenge however you probably have already heard that so I'll just comment on the photo in general.
Overall you did a good job of not blowing out the highlights. There's a little bit of that but not where it counts. As such you captured the fine detail that these things have so good job there. Compositionally, it's ok but it doesn't really enhance the subject, IMO. Since these types of images are so common you want to really add some originality/creativity in the shot and two ways to do that is with the composition and with the lighting. I think you did good with the lighting so composition is where more can be done. The first thing I would do is avoid shooting this from above it. Either get level with it or do something a lot different like shooting it directly underneath it. If you have a good sky that could really make for an interesting composition. Anyway, just my opinion. Good luck! |
