Anneliseby 777STANComment: The lighting is good maybe just a tad bright on the nose but that's just a nitpick. This works well centered. The color on the lips look fake as if painted on or perhaps that was the result of desaturation/masking? If so you should definitely use a softer brush. |

Bald is Beautifulby bassboneComment: I can see the sharpening to compensate for the narrow DOF but otherwise this is pretty good. Works well centered. |

Fireworks of nature by eliniasComment: Geez. Iceland has some of the best models, the best landscapes and apparently also the best fireworks shots. Congrats. |

Pretty simple. I poured some water in a glass tank and added a little bit of hand soap. I mixed it around a little and then used my Giottos Rocket Air Blaster to create them. Actually if you just blow air around the surface of the water or shake the tank a little you'll create some that way as well but that tends to shorten your time to shoot them as you wait for everything to settle down. frogs in loveby pogomclComment: Let me start out with the positives. First, I like the choice in going with backlighting and the second light source is also in a good spot. The composition is centered well and you chose a good angle for your point of view.
The main thing you need to improve here is controlling the lighting and focusing. Closing the curtains in the background would help diffuse the light making it less harsh as well as making the background less cluttered. The focus also appears to be off (unintentionally) so I'd try to work on getting a wider DOF with the lens you are using (i.e. smaller aperture). I think if you do just that you'll improve this shot greatly. In post, you may want to sharpen this a bit using whatever software you have available.
Some other things you may want to try is moving the glasses away from the bottle. I assume this is champagne? If so I'd try and see how I can make the bubbles more interesting. If the glass is away from the bottle and the background uniform I think that would make the bubbles stand out more as well as maybe having a dedicated light source just for that glass position somwhere off to the side or from behind. |
