 My 8 year old son's bald eagle (not really his eagle, but he sponsors it at the Vermont Institute for Natural Sciences) was being frisky and decided to put on a show for the people that were visiting. He was doing this bounce and weave thing and then just started staring at me and my camera. I didn't have the best light in the world, but I did the best I could and at least got his beak illuminated from the fading sun.

1. Converted from Raw to JPEG
2. Adjust levels, Brightness/ Contrast, Hue/Sat
3. Clone/Dodge/ Blur brightened bokeh spot next to eagle's head
3. Spot Blur around head of eagle
4. Adjust size to 640
5. USM and Reduce Noise
6. sharpened around eyes using USM and a little dodging in the eyes
7. Blur and reduce noise
8. Save for web

I can see the sharpening to compensate for the narrow DOF but otherwise this is pretty good. Works well centered.

In my opinion, a higher viewpoint would have made for a stronger image.

Would have more impact if his eyes were in focus (imho). Good bokeh in the background.

Needed more depth of field to get the eyes in focus also.

While there is a slight halo around the bird and a bit of noise, you still pulled this off nicely.
