Jumping with Strings Attachedby Pug-HComment: First, it's paragliding, not parachuting. :) My parents are rabid paragliders. Anyway, I do like the composition. Perhaps I would have given just a bit more space on the left, but that's a nitpick. I do like the cloud at the bottom providing a frame to the bottom. It seems like people appreciated the quality of the technicals (it's in focus, composition good, etc), but they either weren't wowed (there isn't enough going on) or they were unimpressed with how it met the challenge. I bet it's mainly the first reason. |

That's funny, Dad !!by DigiFotoBuddyComment: One totally distracting thing is we wonder where his left arm is. His shirt also blends perfectly with the sky which is quite blown out. The little boy in the back is cute, but I think he's too far away to be engaged with the subject. The title tries to tie him in, but he's still too inconsequential as a subject. |

Dreaming of Deerby KivetComment: Hey Kivet, I think this is a great shot for digital art. The NI gives it a total painting feel. You have been around long enough to know that this doesn't always fly on DPC. A few things are too bad with the composition (I know you couldn't help it, it's not like you were telling the deer where to go). The deer on the left is totally facing away and all we get is a great shot of its ass. The deer on the right has its head perfectly blocked by the fencepost. While you had no control, it still limits the height this picture can reach. |

Vertigoby marvinComment: Heh, you must have missed the abolutely raging thread about two months back about using the radial blur.
Overall the shot lacks both a subject and enough contrast. I do think it does play tricks with my eyes and that's good, but I want a "subject", even if the real subject is the ground. The square just isn't enough to keep us captivated. |

The Intimate Fulcrum — Love's Failed Leapby Bear_MusicComment: OK, you've probably forgotten more about photography than I know, but here goes...
1) I would have gone with a single light source. The multiple shadows tend to confuse the eye.
2) With that, perhaps upping the contrast. I know I'm leading to a slightly different shot overall, but I'm trying to add a bit more dynamics.
3) That warm gray looks more like a mauve on my monitor. Not a fan.
4) If you are happy with it, then who the hell cares? ;) |

Eerie Reflectionby MacDonaldComment: OK, a few things that catch my eye.
1) The composition is good. Vertical crop accentuates the jump. Rule of thirds is used well.
2) The color of the water is bad. Not that you could do much, but that shade brown for water is a turn off.
3) If you could have done it over, I would have suggested an even higher shutter speed to absolutely freeze the water splash.
4) All that being said, I appreciated the serendipity of capturing this shot. It does deserve some credit for that, but voters don't know how easy or hard a shot is and thus tend to not give you a bonus for it. |

Freedomby Rando D300Comment: Seems just a little dark or a bluish cast which isn't too complementary to most people's skin tones. |

Harbour Sunrise by GIS_boyComment: Why does Rikki even think he has a chance in these things? You are on fire GIS...
BTW, one more good one and you'll have that coveted 6.0 average vote. Message edited by author 2006-04-10 22:02:49. |
