Kafka's "The Castle"by RyanWComment: I have to admit I̢۪m finding it difficult to make the connection with this picture of a building with the novel. I haven̢۪t read this book but I have now read some reviews on line. There isn̢۪t a lot of emotion for me from this image. However, I guess architectural photos aren̢۪t meant to create emotion. I do like the colours, perspective and deep DoF though. 4. |

Charlotte's Webby DanaSComment: Every time we get a Garden Orb Spider at our place my daughter names it Charlotte. The focus appears to be nicely on the spider but it doesn̢۪t̢۪ quite feel sharp enough. The background is a little distracting though it does bring in a domesticated feel. I do like the leading lines of the web. 6 |

1984 - George Orwellby FourPointXComment: Nice find and this really relates to the novel well. I̢۪m not really sure of what I̢۪m looking at here but it portrays Big Brother watching nicely. 6. |

The Secret Gardenby lunachickenComment: I find this image to be quite appealing. The emotion I wish to see in this child ties it in nicely with the book. The image itself really is beautiful. 8 |

Damn Dust - The Grapes of Wrath by RmacComment: I can really see this as the cover for the book. If fits beautifully. The image itself is fascinating and appealing. I like the composition and the high contrast of the man and the broken window. I wasn̢۪t too sure about the processing but having had the time to appreciate the image I feel it was a good choice. 9. |

Flowers for Algernonby flahermaComment: A beautiful image. I like the flowers to tie in with the title and the medical instrument and gauze to reflect the plot. The thought and composition is met with a wonderfully shot and processed photo. Now, the only nitpick I have is that for me the composition feels a little off. Perhaps a bit more room to the left of the image may have helped. Still, an overall wonderful image. 9. |

Snow Whiteby PennyStreetComment: In my opinion this is quite the shoehorn. However, the image itself is very interesting with elements such as her boots, the way she is holding her phone, her stance, the photog in the background and the way she is sitting, and the flags in the background providing a sense of place. Overall, there is much to see here. One more thing, when I first opened the image and read your title it made me laugh and I do like images that does that for me. 7 |

"The Great Gatsby" Rememberedby beatabgComment: Despite the heavy handed approach to the processing this image is strangely appealing. It does look like this image may have been produced using two shots which is against the rules but, of course, I'm voting as if this was achieved within the rules. 6 |
