Each time I look at it I think the same thing, so I will convey it - though it might be totally against what you were going for. As far as meeting the Challenge, I think in the sense thtat a shot of this put into a time capsule would not depict this era well for future generations, in my opinion. The album itself (a classic especially for this year) put into a time capsule, would more so than the photo, just my opinion. Ok, criticism; I really 'wish' that the album was 'Saturday Night Fever' and the guy was dressed up in a 'sharp suit', doing the 'strut' style as he walked. I think that would have made an excellent shot and depicted this era/year very well 'for future generations'. As it is, I try to 'relate' the album (Rumours) with the 'set' you have and the only connection I can make is the slightly ruffled shirt. Just had to comment on the potential I think this shot had, but it is just my opinion. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

If my presumption is correct, you were going for the 'Madonna thing', and the glove is fairly authentic to that. Criticism; I would like to have seen more of the hand (if not a whole 'outfit'/fashion depiction). The bangles are not 'apt' in my opinion and the nail polish, not sure. The photo itself seems to be nice and 'clean' with a good 'base background', just doesn't quite 'sell me' on the authenticity of this 'era', just my opinion. Original though. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

I don't think the 'AD' was necessary but that is just my opinion. Criticism; whilst I think you have captured a certain amount of 'tension' and 'drama' here, I would like to see that emphasized somehow. The colors are nice and bold, especially against the clear blue sky, so depending of course if you were able to incorporate more into the frame, maybe more sky, or full length 'toy soldiers' (that's what they look like to me), would have made this a better shot in my opinion. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Criticism; whilst it is definitely more of an artistic shot than a 'depiction', in my opinion, I am wondering if the 'effects' have detracted from the intended 'era' 'capture' for the Challenge, just has more potential to capture the era, in my opinion. I would like to have seen this cropped to cut out that sign(?) on the left near the water's edge, but the scenery to the left of that is nice. As for 'authenticity' on the house(?) to the right of the windmill (ie the roof) I do not know, so perhaps a cropping out of that as well may have made this a better shot (for the Challenge) in my opiniion. I do like the b/w(?) effect though and think it adds to the bygone era 'feel', however, given the seemingly 'simple' colors that would have been here in color, I wonder how that too would have looked. Nice shot. |

Criticism; whilst I do like the colors, I wonder if it would have packed more punch in b/w, especially seeing as you have so much definition in the water and splashes. Not sure about the black frame. Actually on a closer look, perhaps you have desaturated somewhat, can't discern 'green'. Good shot though. Maybe, just for added 'touch' and character, if the girl in blue had a blue umbrella might have created a really unique shot. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Criticism; considering the Challenge, I would like to have seen a 'larger' photo if possible, showing more 'drops'. The color is nice and I don't know if you softened a little, but even though I said I like the lily, with the rain the main 'focal point' (for me in my opinion re the Challenge) I would like to see more definition, so possibly a sharpening, or just to contradict myself, a 'blurring/softening' could have worked too. Just also trying to get more 'symmetry/composition' with the placement of the pads within the frame would have made this a better shot in my opinion. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

But I hope you understand what I am saying and also that I am going to add it to my favorites for inspiration. Beautiful coloring, texture and drop formation. Just a shame there is no 'rain' for this Challenge. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Criticism; for me, there is too much 'fore/top' foliage. I would like to see almost a thin 'veiling' of it or none. A zoom 'through the branches' out to the rain, may have made this a better shot in my opinion. I like the colors and the water capture but just think it has more potential than you have captured - in my opinion. |
| 08/15/2005 09:01:58 AM | Raining Honda'sby res0m50rComment: '6' - Fairly good capture of the rain for the Challenge. Criticism; for me, a totally different crop and focus here would have made this a real abstract type of shot. Perhaps, losing the car altogether, gaining a slightly different angle to get the curve of the path, and the gutter at the top of frame. I just see potential here for a kind of 'abstract' type of shot using the two contrasting colors and the seemingly 'pouring rain'. Just my 'viewpoint' and 'opinion'. edit:typos & clarification Message edited by author 2005-08-22 06:43:35. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/15/2005 08:58:49 AM | Under The Weatherby mrmorrisComment: '6' - Nice shot for the Challenge. The b/w works well. Criticism; I would like to see more 'blur' but you'd likely lose the rain more. Something to bring out the rain drops more than the fence and 'passer by' (somehow, no idea how) would make this shot have more impact (specially for the Challenge) in my opinion. Maybe an 'unusual' cropping somehow, not sure. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
