5 - Nice and simple, nice colors. Good potential. Criticism; 'if only' the fore of the apple were as sharp, or sharper as the 'core' seems to be (and that a fraction sharper too), make this even better in my opinion. The reflection/blown part is slightly detracting, but fairly minor.

6 - Interesting. Criticism; just like to see more detail in the part that is in focus, 'somehow', whether the toning, etc not sure. Likely easier to discern out of focus remaining features/face at a larger size, but at this size, perhaps 'allowing a fraction more focus in' may have helped this here, who knows. Perhaps a slightly tighter crop, especially on the right too. Up to 6 from 5, mainly for the extreme and good use of a very shallow depth of field.

7 - Very nice. Nice colors. Criticism; undecided on the 'softness', 'works', especially for the shallow DOF effect complementing it. Like to see this at 640, and incorporating more of the background 'shallowness', would have likely made this even better in my opinion, especially seeing as those colors in the background seem to complement well. Nice crop point on the left/bottom. Up to 7 from 6.

7 - Very good, especially to highlight the 'depth'. Criticism; not much to be done in basic to the dust spot(?) and few other minor 'marks', really only the lighting 'reflections' detract in this, but only slightly in my opinion, as well as perhaps a touch more attention to 'symmetry'. Difficult, but sharper on the very fore 'prongs' would also have made this even better in my opinion. Not sure on the frame. Good strong color and idea, assuming this is a hairbrush. Up to 7 from 6, mainly for the very good DOF. edit:typo

8 - Nice pose/capture, the 'remnants base' adds a good element too. The background/depth also very good. Colors nice and simple and enhance the squirrel. Criticism; not much other than sharper on the squirrel (face/paws especially) and possibly a crop variation (top and bottom, especially where the sunlight is 'nudging in' at the fore) may have made this even better in my opinion. Likely different to try to adjust (bump) the contrast here at all given the snow. Up to 7 from 6. Up to 8 from 7, mainly for the excellent DOF.

6 - Very nice. Background/DOF/bokeh is very complementary. Criticism; having said that, the dark green 'line' on the left, which I presume is the lighting cord/cable, detracts, but fairly minor. Like to see that 'stem/branch/needles' enhanced, 'somehow', just a bit more, making it really 'pop' and dominate. Perhaps a slight crop adjustment too, mainly at the top/bottom, trying to not 'cut' any 'circles' too much, may have also made this better in my opinion. Good potential here and nice and simple, including the colors.

7 - This is nice, nice capture. Criticism; difficult, dependent on environment, etc - but perhaps a sharper (ground level/up) angle/perspective, to really enhance those 'sculptures', defining them more, may have made this even better in my opinion. Like to see that fore 'sculpture' sharper too, but difficult. Up to 7 from 6, mainly for the 'unique factor'.

'Somehow' cropping out that bottom left bit of grass/seedhead(s) too, again angle likely. Not sure on the frame, 'works', especially the color, but the thickness - don't know it complements the delicacy of the grass. Up to 7 from 6.

7 - Very good. Unusual sheet music there for this instrument. Criticism; looks like some gamma (could be grain) issues in the dark areas, especially at the fore. Good focus/focal points, good texture capture on the instrument and good DOF. Perhaps a variation in composition and/or framing may have made this even better, not sure. Up to 7 from 6.

8 - Wow, if this is (and I'll be back PC to see), amazing capture. Very nice colors and light 'use'. Criticism; difficult, depending on what that 'bubble' is, and the detail on it is very good, but perhaps incorporating that fore 'iced strand', may have also added an extra element here, but of course depends on the distance from the 'bubble'. The blue/abstract/object/something middle left in the background slightly detracts from the overall feel, but minor. No idea how, but some type of 'tweaking' of the colors, the whites (obvious contrast issues), and the barely discernable 'greens', may have also made this better - but likely very difficult. An interesting shot. Up to 8 from 7, mainly for the 'unique factor'.
