wow - that's brilliant. The idea and result are superb. There's just a tad of chatter in the strings and holos around the instrument but it doesn't hurt it. This is a shoe-in for top 3.

This one is definitely not something I should take any credit for - really great shot by ROX ...
Now that I look at it there was a crop and rotate and possibly curves and sharpness and that's what you get.

OH MAN! -- I wish that would have been submitted, I bet Rox' does too :]! She is also good at making color adjustments but i probably just got lucky on this one.

Looking at it now is so great because it's been a while.

Anyway, the great stuff was already in the photo, it's just a matter of amplifying it I suppose. I usually use hue and saturation as a layer and do visual adjustments. This is a good way to create the black-and-white while maintainting the avialability of colors in the RGB spectrum (not converting to greyscale). I also use curves - but when using curves you need to visualize what you want a bit - if there are lines that fall on a certain part of the curve, you can bring those out by varying the curve in that spot - always keeping the curve simple to make sure it looks natural.

There are also contrast settings in both Noise Ninja (increases the contrast in details rather than overall) and "Shadow/Highlight" (midtone contrast only). These are much better than Photoshop's standard "Brightness/Contrast" adjustment which should hardly ever be used because it doesn't hold the extremes well (highlites get blown out and dark details are lost).

These are tips that don't necessarilly apply to this image but I'm trying to get the orig again from Roxanne so maybe i can spark my brain cells to remember exactly what I did :]
