Dark Side of the Moonby SJCarterComment: Now this is my kind of abstract. I love the colors and textures. I like how it is not readily obvious what it is. The title is perfect and allows the mind to wander in its own imaginings. Nice shot! |

He Loves Me / He Loves Me Notby SJCarterComment: The composition and approach/perspective of this shot should have set this one apart. Very nice concept, well shot subject, colors are excellent and using the mirror was the right touch. Wish it had done better - perhaps the recent flower challenge was too soon for the shot. It is definitely well done and deserved to place better. The focus is spot on and the DoF is just right for the composition. Well done Jimmy! |

In The Name Ofby messerschmittComment: Very interesting composition...my only criticism would be the centering. the colors are good and I love the lighting used. The textures go very well together. The constant disruption of the background is a lovely technique you used quite well. IMO, being centered works with the border applied, with no border I would like to see it a bit off in one direction or another. Nice shot, well done! |

daylilly black bg.jpgby missinseattleComment: I like the colors and the composition of this shot. The perspective is good and the ratio of negative space to subject is well done. The down side, to me, is the DoF. |

Sweetly Blushingby SandyPComment: You were robbed - one of the better compositions in the challenge hands down! The softness of the shot and the lighting really set a tranquil mood that is very hard to capture. It may be a bit bright on the tips, but I think the subtle colors - lavenders/purples take that away. Nice high-key effect. There is a really nice blend and transition from top to bottom in the shot that sets this apart IMO - soft to hard. Very well done Sandy! Message edited by author 2006-07-10 20:54:25. |

Old Gray Mareby SJCarterComment: As a horse lover, this is excellent. The kind of portrait you don't see much of with horses. The closeness lets you focus on the eyes and also lets the strong bone and vein lines really add character and strength to the shot. The colors are beautiful - nice tones and contrasts. Nice job Jimmy! I love it! |

Insulatorby rox_roxComment: I love the simplicity of this shot. The off center composition is very nice. The amount of texture in the glass you were able to maintain is very, very good. I have a bunch of these and toyed with the idea...glad i didn't - this surpasses anything I could have done. The lighting is excellent - really lets the shape and texture stand for itself. Also lets the color be itself and not forced at all. Very well done - underappreciated in the voting I think. Black background was the only way to go as well...really lets the insulator stand strong and bold. Nice job Roxanne! Message edited by author 2006-07-10 20:45:29. |

Midnight Redby SandyPComment: Beautiful shot Sandy! VERY well done! The colors are so rich and full. The detail on your subject is excellent. I love the composition and the crop you chose. Very nice lines and balance between subject and the background. You definitely nailed this one perfectly! Excellent work! Just added to favorites. All I can say is the 1/2/3 votes must have been from people who were jealous because this is simply gorgeous!
EDIT: should have been crop, not croop. Message edited by author 2006-06-28 20:22:01. |
