Harborby GermaineComment: "6" - Was just reviewing the comments I had made and noticed this one. Very uncharacteristic for me. I never leave numbers - I didn't even vote on this challenge. So:
I love the composition of the scene. The angle of approach really lends itself very well to the reflections - well done! The close crop really works well with this composition as well. The balance between subject area and negative space is really well proportioned. The colors seem a bit washed out on the top decks, but the tonal range in the lower half and the reflections is very pleasing. Overall an interesting shot with a lot of good qualities. The only distraction I find is all the antennas/masts on the same horizontal as the subject cabins. Perhaps a bit of darkening to lessen their presence. Waitingby RolandBComment: Excellent 'candid' shot or 'street' shot here. The composition is very well done. The details are crisp and clear. The colors are well placed (red and blue) and present a nce balance to the grays and blacks. They also help to keep you focused in your subject area. Well done! |

Northen lights expressby OdieComment: My original comment was really a place holder so I could find this faster when I return. I really like the combination of lighting in the shot. They are balanced very well - nice job! it doesn't really look like a train track - ending at the beach doesn't make sense. But the impression is certainly there. The colors are developed and separated well in the sky and on the horizon. Another aspect I like is the strip of silhouetted area in the middle. Overall, nice exposure, interesting composition. |

A Peas Offeringby LN13Comment: I didn't vote on this challenge and somehow missed even viewing them. This is an excellent shot. Well exposed, excellent DoF, composition/lighting/focus are all excellent! Very well done! Message edited by author 2006-10-24 09:50:51. |

Foggy Sunday Morningby phylsy7Comment: I have looked at this a few times now. This time I see what bothers me. On this screen the pic only shows partially and it is cut off just above the reflection in the water. Without scrolling to see the rest, this portion seems, to me anyway, to have more impact and causes the viewer to create the rest. Much more powerful in my humble opinion. The composition as is is good, but again I think I like a different crop. Well done on the exposure - just the right mood/effect. The ratio of light to dark is very well done. Overall, very nice exposure. |

Cool. Smooth. Refreshing. by SJCarterComment: Just keep coming back to this image for some reason. The serenity of the scene so disrupted by the strength of the bottle added to the detail of the moss, hard lines of the rocks, softness of the water...a great combination done well within proportion. Excellent work Jimmy! |
