I had this idea, but it was rather dark. There are no trains in Iceland so this is a (train)track used for boats.

Would be better as an image without the train tracks.

The northern lights are very nice. The lighting on the pile of rubble and trash is nice, but I don't really get a railroad feel from it. I get more of a trash pile accumlated on the shore line and that the pile includes two strips of iron.

The technical composition of the photo is quite nice. It just doesn't rate strongly in the challenge perspective for me.

Hehe, an Icelander did get into the act! Albeit with some rails used for launching a boat (perhaps a lifeboat?) into the sea. Good luck. ;-)

Great picture, but that looks like a boat launch more then train tracks. Tracks look staged.

My original comment was really a place holder so I could find this faster when I return. I really like the combination of lighting in the shot. They are balanced very well - nice job! it doesn't really look like a train track - ending at the beach doesn't make sense. But the impression is certainly there. The colors are developed and separated well in the sky and on the horizon. Another aspect I like is the strip of silhouetted area in the middle. Overall, nice exposure, interesting composition.

The background is wonderful. The forground is awful. That doesn't mean it is bad, just surreal... I am going to credit it for such a creativity. I think this will shake the average observer paradigm of what a "nice" image is (or should be). Good job.

I could buy this more if it was titled 'Polar Express'. That was the movie (with Tom Hanks) where the train goes to the north pole and the tracks run across/into a body of ice on the way there. As is, this is more of an image about northern lights with a side show/prop of a piece of railroad track.
