Merry Deathmas?by KelliComment: wild. Rare to see a dressed up car here, although in a town further south it happens. Wonder why he choose that? Kind of amusing. |

Descent from the Cross by De SousaComment: Originally posted by HawkeyeLonewolf: Wow... Amazingly offensive to those of the Christian faith. |
But ,not. This scene has been depicted over and over and over by Christians, for Christians, in churches, on their ceilings, walls, paintings, drawings and has ben commissioned over and over by those Christians that could afford since the days of yore. Sometimes referred to as the Deposition, it has been done and redone by many of the so-called great artists such as Rubens, Caravaggio, Regnault, Savoi, etc. On Wiki alone you can see images of renditions of it from as early as 1178 to as modern as 1990. Part of the brilliance of this image is that it is executed so perfectly that most any art history student that did not sleep through class would INSTANTLY recognize it and then realize the modern touches to it and start exloring deeper to find all the differences. Truly brilliant, DeSousa, hope you make a mint off it, you easily could, it's wonderful. |
