6..interesting a creepy. Honestly ,I should bump this to a seven....so 7. I love how it keeps me guessing, is it a face? Is it not a face? Is it a creepy clown face? The greens are really appealing too and make me think of the emerald city from the Wizard of Oz. It's almost like you've killed two birds with one stone here...I'm thinking 8. Pardon me if I seem a bit crazy, but kudos to you for making me think and letting me use my imagination.

4...you have a neat aquarium if that is indeed your aquarium. My vote given is due to the overall darkness of the image, it seems a bit underexposed.

6...there are boats here, and there are boats in the book, so I guess that's a connection. Though it's a choppy sea, it's a calm image. I find the subdued palette of grays very soothing.

4...nice detail in the feathers but the B&W conversion needs some help. It seems mostly middle zones, no real blacks and very few white whites to give the image a nice pop. Overall it seems flat. That could also be due to the light...probably a combo of the two. And one last thing, the inner curve of the neck is quite graceful, I just wish you hadn't chopped the bit off the top.It stops the movement of my eye through the image, it fights the curve.

6...kudos for sticking to the actual story. The one thing I find could use some work is the lighting. It's a bit too harsh and one directional...like an on camera flash. Some natural window light would have lent a great deal of atmosphere and mood.

4...Ha! Two of you had the same idea. It seems a bit over-saturated, particularly in the flames.

4...The HDRish effect really flattens the image out. I might have cropped the flag on the right out. There isn't enough of it showing to add any important information to what's going on I think.

4...this really doesn't have anything to do with the content of the novel at all, just a nod to a title.
