this is cute! would be a stronger photo if the shadows had a sharper edge, but I love the concept.

I think what throws this off for me (challenge-wise) is that the subject seems to be the bear rather than the shadow. Also, the composition seems a little static with the bear and shadow in the center of the pic. I think that if they were in the lower third it might work a little better - give it a little more sense of being out in the wilderness.
I also think that this would work better for the challenge if the shadow had a little more definition to it...if it looked more like the outline of the bear.
It's not a bad shot of a bear, but for a 'shadow' challenge, it's lacking a little 'oomph' in the shadow area.

Not trying to be mean, just explaining the low vote: DNMC - no lens cap.
I think that perhaps the challenge was misinterpreted as 'Landscape'? Had the challenge been landscape, this would have been my comment: This is quite an interesting shot due to the excellent use of backlighting and the very interesting landforms.

I think that perhaps the challenge was misinterpreted as 'Landscape'? Had the challenge been landscape, this would have been my comment: This is a very pretty spot, and the title fits the photo very well. The waterfall is a hair overexpose, but not so much that it is overwhelming. The greens are absolutely gorgeous.

I think that perhaps the challenge was misinterpreted as 'Landscape'(?). Had the challenge been landscape, this would have been my comment: Your horizon is badly tilted - everything is running downhill to the left. Centering the boat and fisherman is not very interesting compositionally. The reflection is nice, and the colors are soothing, but unfortunately it is not enough to overcome the tilt and the composition.

I think that perhaps the challenge was misinterpreted as 'Landscape'? Had the challenge been landscape, this would have been my comment: While the colors are pretty, your horizon is slightly tilted (about a degree or so). The photo is too small - you will score much higher (even with a DNMC) if you use the full 640 pixels allowed.

Seems like this should have been in the environmental portrait challenge. If it had been, it would have gotten a 5 with this comment: this looks a little out of focus, perhaps due to being hand-held with a long-ish exposure. The vertical crop is a bit tight for my taste. The colors are great, and I like the diagonals made by the flutes(?). I like the intesity of the gaze, I just wish it were a little crisper.
