Day 07by darnokComment: Now, what were you trying to achieve? Did you want texture of the shoe and laces or did you want to show contrasts in light. That makes a difference where you place your light. One thing you might have considered is manually triggering the flash unit as placed behind the subject and pointing at a light backdrop. Using your camera flash, you could deflect the light perhaps to the right with the flash unit triggering behind the shoe. This might give more separation between the background and the shoe. It is hard to get decent light with one flash unit. You need at least two, and the one on the camera is always a problem because you don't want it to be really strong. Anyway, I will look up my info on still lives and see if I can give you a few light set ups. |

Day 6 Wineby dreamyComment: A bit muddy. Need some better light to bring out a few highlights which is really important in b&w. This one is too much in the midtone range. You need to look at subjects that have a lot of potential for deep rich blacks and bright highlights, and the mid tones should have more variation. |

Day 7 - Towerby meneleComment: Intersting angle. I know you tried to make image more interesting with this angle, but overall the subject lacks real punch and the detail is lacking. Now that window has a lot of contrasts and shadows. That might have been a better subject for b&w. |

shallow dof outtakeby Rino63Comment: Seems to need less exposure. Highlights are bit washed. I can see the compositional draw to the image, but overall it lacks that interest factor that is really needed for shots on this site. |

Day 7 BW IMG_0074-elephant.jpgby JerseyGenieComment: Very nice bas relief style. I am reading a bit on bas relief in black and white and will keep my eyes open for these wonderful studies of light and shadow. |

Child waitingby MelethiaComment: Kind of a dangerous shot, leaving that cute baby by itself. You say a bit about responsibility here. Nice depiction of inattentiveness on the parents part. Kind of scary. |

day 7by cryanComment: Very surreal and strange looking. For this shot, a tighter crop on just the face would have really shown that wonderful blur of the mask over the face, giving it a unique and different look. |

Day 7 - Cyclesby ArtysteComment: Looks very pretty. Great job of separating foreground from background. Okay, dandelions. Lets see what I can do tomorrow. |

Foundryby BAMartinComment: Love the brick wall. A better lighting might have been with light glancing across the surface of the wall to create more jagged edges. Not sure if higher in the sky or lower would enhance the stone work the best. Go at different times of the day to see. |
