What would a B&W project be without dandelions? I'll get them out of my system early.

Today starts the next six days with a new lens. Through random selection, these 6 days will be with the M-135mm f/3.5 Manual focus, manual meter lens.

A lens well regarded for it's clarity and quality of bokeh, expect quite a lot of this sort of shot over the next few days. Also expect a couple of portraits.

I titled it "cycles" because there are a few cycles of life here. The mature dandelion on the left, the depleted dandelion in the middle, and one just about to bloom on the right.

The one thing I wish hadn't got in the shot is the one almost open on the bottom under the mature flower. It's distracting.

I'm sure all y'all will find something to critique about it too though, so let fly... there's a lot there.

Love the level of detail in this composition. What I like about this composition is that the off center main object is the barren dandelion step surrounded by the dandelion flowers - a subtle injection of life/death symbolism. Tones and DOF are absolutely wonderful. I don't have anything to suggest for this is picture perfect as is.

Toning is great - nice intense look for innocent flowers - I like it.

Dandelions have a bad rep - they really are quite lovely things. You did a very nice job with this - the toning suits.

I love your choice of tones...and yes, the life cycles are wonderfully explored....strong composition, takes the ordinary into something to think about...

Love the detail to this. Even the fine hairs on the side of the stem really stand out. Nicely done!

Looks very pretty. Great job of separating foreground from background. Okay, dandelions. Lets see what I can do tomorrow.

just gorgeous ... i love the drooping and dying flower, side by side with the growing ones .. and of course the ones yet to flower ... this tells the story of life for me .. love the contrasts ... and grain - i've said today in someone else's image .. 'wotever' .. i'm so used to grain in my own images that an image without it looks unnatural ... slight exaggeration, but i'm sure you get the drift ... :)
