I think this is an improvement over the original (and I don't even mind the border). I think you could still straighten the horizon a hair (even if that's not reality, I think it unconsciously makes the shot appear tilted). I would also continue to bump up the contrast and maybe take the color sat down a hair. Nice composition though and I like the tones.
