The sign of an inpending stormby Canadian_ehComment: Not sure I fully appreciate the title and implications of the sign, but it's a beautiful sunrise/set. The colors and clouds in the sky are great. Growing up (and currently living) in a small town myself, I'm curious as to the correlation you perceive. :-) |

Garden Spider ala Jimmy's suggestionsby loriprophotoComment: MUCH better IMHO! :-) Of course, how could I claim less with a title like that?!?! LOL But in all honesty, I can see so much more detail on the spider herself and it really brings home the power of these formidable creatures. It's interesting how the DOF worked in a closer version - I would have expected more detail from the zigzag area, but it actually works more blurred. The detail in the top portion of the web is superb! SEE! I knew it was there! LOL Thanks for taking my suggestion and making my day (regardless of whether or not anyone else likes it!). ;-)
EDIT: And see! I didn't even realize she had something for dinner on the stove - but now I can see that she's stowed something away for her next meal! LOL Message edited by author 2005-08-30 15:58:15. |

Bent Spoon or Bent World?by K-RobComment: WOW - outstanding shot! Perfectly met the challenge (although that one was before my time here at DPC) and is so expertly rendered. Very cool. Congrats on your top 10 finish - it was well-deserved. |

support your local singerby irishempressComment: Great title & shot. I meant to comment on this during the challenge, but ran out of time. (BTW: I scored it a 7) Great emotive performance shot. Love the colors and dark overtones. Looks like it's in a high school gym or something. Very young, grungy, hip feel. Nice job. |

Tiny Begging.jpgby K-RobComment: Fantastic pet portrait! The focus, lighting, DOF, & colors are right on! My only suggestion would be to take the pooch out of the dead center of the shot. I think cropping more off the left would really add to the composition. Nice job! |

Footprintsby pgattComment: It really is a shame you haven't received more comments on this shot and I'm very surprised it didn't finish with a higher score. I gave it a 7 in the challenge and unfortunately am just as guilty for not commenting then. :-)
I like this image on a number of levels. The foreground sand with footprints being the best part (IMHO). The further up/back you go, the less I think the image has a realistic impact. It becomes (for some reason) less "real". I'm sure that this is probably just an illusion, but the colors and textures above the sand become surreal. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, but I think it fights for supremacy with the natural sand. It's almost like this shot is actually 2 images overlapping - crop more from the bottom and it becomes surreal, crop more from the top and it becomes more natural. I think it's a great capture, I'm just not sure it presented itself in the best possible light for the specific challenge. Make sense? Just my 2 cents... :-) |

Through the looking glassby LeeDComment: LOVE this shot - scored it a 9. I seem to recall you throwing this image up for additional critique and "PS play". I also seem to recall that there was a version that increased the detail on the skin and maybe got rid of the "island" beneath the pinky - and thinking that those modifications made it perfect. Not that it was far off the mark to start with! I think this was/is not only very creative, but also very emotive. To me, this shot screams humanity. Very nice job. |

Sunset Sailby LeeDComment: This is awesome... Love the composition, colors, silhouettes, etc. I agree however, that I would clone out/dodge/blend the reflective pink spot underneath the foremost sail - it is a little distracting from an otherwise stunning photo. Everything else to me looks great. Very nice capture. |
