lookby arngrimurComment: Excellent rendition of a statue. This is probably one of the best I've seen here for conveying artistic intent. The crop, composotion, POV and DOV are all perfect. 9 - good luck in the challenge! |

From Whence It Cameby leesoskiComment: This image is small which will not help it in the voting. I am wondering what your focus is here. The juxtaposition of the real tree with the processed wood? I think, for a more creative image a different time of day with better lighting would greatly improve the image. 4 |

Chain on Woodby torfisComment: I think what would have made this image really pop is if the background, what is seen through the hole, was in focus and viewable. As it is, the image is rather static. there is some tension with the chain but I am left wondering why the image was taken. Technically, this image is in focus and the lighting is okay. 4 |

Abandoned high chairby GinaRothfelsComment: Its interesting that you were able to get a well focused image with the light such as it is. The image could use some rotation so the chair doesn't look like its falling forward. 4 |

Manzanitaby beafliesComment: The tree bark is beautiful but I am not sure the lighting is the best it could be for this image. The tree is so dark and the leaves so light they distract. Maybe revisiting this at a different time of day would help. 4 |

Lone Starby L1Comment: Very simple composition that I enjoy. I prefer B&W but I think it is pretty cool as it is. I can't tell if the fuzziness in the upper right is noise or sharpening artifacts. Like hte lighting. 7 - good luck in the challenge! |

Shadesby PeterCComment: This is pretty cool. Reminds me of Rothko, or at least the abstract expressionists. Very well done. Like the shadowing that give the image a good 3 dimensional quality. Really rather fascinating when you look at it. 9 - good luck in the challenge! |

Homeby AlainComment: I find this image very intriguing due to the inclusion of the tree. I really think that adds so much though I'm stumped as to figure out why. I think it may be the competing textures - the randomness of the tree balances out the rigidity of the vertical wood. Irregardless, I like the tones, the composition, think the DOF and POV are perfect and think the lighting works. 8 - good luck in the challenge! |

Old 'N' Broken Downby SeaSailComment: It took me a few minutes to figure out what this was. The lighting does not help at all. The crop is awkward, leaving me bits and pieces but I can't tell what is the focus. This could be reshot, maybe on an overcast day to get rid of the hots spots, maybe with the photographer on a more even plane with the ladder. This would give a clearer view of what you as the photographer saw. 3 |

Didgeridooby naomikComment: This is an interesting subject but I find the execution coming up a bit short. For me at least, a large part of the instrument is lost in the background. The lighting is okay but the backgorund should have been a different color so as not to lose the subject. The composition is rather static due to the lighting and background. 4 |
